A year after Logan hit theaters, the first Deadpool broke box office records for an R-rated film, which got Jackman thinking about the prospects of its return.
“I was on the road, I was driving, and literally, like a bolt of lightning, the realization hit me deep in my gut that I wanted to make this movie with Ryan,” Jackman explained.

‘And I literally couldn’t wait to arrive. As soon as I arrived, I called Ryan. And I just said, ‘Let’s do it.’ Like, I hadn’t called my agent, I hadn’t called anyone,” he admitted.
“I had to call my agent and say, ‘Oh, by the way, I just shot a movie,’” he said, laughing.
“Sometimes in life things become very clear to you, and when that happens I’ve learned that you just have to jump and go for it,” he admitted.
