Kade Maloney, the son of former NRL star James Maloney, has been found, according to members of his family.

On Sunday, his mother, Jess, appealed to the public to help them find the 14-year-old boy after he went missing on Sunday.

She posted a message on Instagram saying they were ‘desperately looking for Kade’ and that he was heading to the Penrith area.

But later in the evening she took to the social media platform again to announce the news that the teenager had been found and thanked those who had offered support to the family.

‘Update: Kade has been found!!!’ She wrote before adding: “He is now safe with our friends.

‘Thank you to everyone who helped find him, offered support and shared this message to spread it to so many people.

“Thank you also to the NSW Police, especially Brisbane Water and Penrith. We are so grateful.’

Earlier in the day, his mother had issued a statement calling on the public to come forward if they had any information.

“We really want to know he’s okay and if he doesn’t want us to know exactly where he is then that’s okay too, we just really want to know he’s safe,” Jess had written on Instagram.

‘Have you seen him or heard of him, please contact us. He has James’ phone, so James can’t be reached.’

“We really want to know he’s okay, and if he doesn’t want us to know exactly where he is, that’s no problem, we just really want to know he’s safe.

‘The police are also helping us, so inform them if you know anything. Please share too. Thank you.’

New South Wales Police had also appealed to the public for help in finding the teenager. Police have posted photos of the boy online after he was seen leaving a train station wearing a white North Queensland Cowboys T-shirt and shorts.

‘When he could not be located or contacted, officers from the Brisbane Water Police District were notified and began an investigation into his whereabouts.

“Police and family are concerned for his well-being as his disappearance is out of character.”

‘He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark blue North Queensland Cowboys football trousers and carrying a black bag.

“Police investigations indicate he may have traveled to the Penrith area by train.”

Other members of the NRL community, including Nathan Cleary, shared Jess’ Instagram post to their social media accounts.

The Penrith halfback wrote: ‘Keep an eye out in the Penrith area’.
