Huge quantity of popular jerky brand’s dried meat is recalled for disturbing reason
Hickory Hollow Jerky is recalling approximately 6,229 pounds of ready-to-cook jerky because it was produced without required federal inspection.
The beef and bacon jerky products were produced between January 19 and August 21, 2024.
This issue is the result of a change in ownership at the company on June 11, 2024. Two different owners operated the company during this time, and neither had inspected the products.
The company name and product names remained unchanged during this period.
The recalled dried meat products bear the establishment number “EST. NO. 34550” and were distributed to retailers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma and online

The problem was discovered during routine FSIS inspections. Despite requests to stop federal inspections, the company continued to produce and label jerky with the USDA seal of approval.
There are no confirmed reports of side effects from consuming these products.
If you have any concerns, the company advises consumers to consult a doctor, according to their website.
FSIS is also urging consumers to check their pantries for the recalled dried sausage. Do not eat these products. Throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them.
FSIS is actively monitoring the recall to ensure that the company notifies customers and removes the product from stores. A list of affected retailers will be posted on the FSIS website.
