Huge police presence in New York’s Lower East Side after man ‘barricades himself in apartment with a gun’

There is a huge police presence on Manhattan's Lower East Side after reports of an armed man barricading himself in an apartment.

Footage from the Eldridge St scene posted on the Citizen app shows several NYPD officers with long guns surrounding a building.

Police said: 'Due to a police investigation, please avoid the area of ​​Eldridge St. between Rivington St. and Stanton St.'

University Settlement, which provides education and social services, said one of its buildings at 184 Eldridge St. must be entered from the south because of the police activity.
