Huge ITV2 comedy show hosted by a popular celebrity to be axed after seven series – after being deemed ‘tired’ by bosses

A huge ITV2 comedy show has been axed after seven series – after bosses reportedly found the show format ‘tired’.

CelebAbility – hosted by Love Island narrator Iain Stirling – has been running since 2017 and has seen 52 episodes.

The game show often pits players such as Stacey Solomon and Scarlett Moffatt against the audience to complete challenges, and airs after Love Island has ended.

The seventh series featured Moffatt, as well as several of the host team captains, including Katherine Ryan, Will Best, Snoochie Shy and Pete Wicks.

It was brought to life by comedian Iain, famous for his voiceovers in his iconic Scottish accent.

Farewell: CelebAbility – presented by Love Island narrator Iain Stirling – has been running since 2017 and has seen 52 episodes

But there are currently no plans for a new series as sources claimed the format had become ‘dated’ and ‘tired’.

An insider said The sun: ‘CelebAbility had a decent run, but ultimately the format was a bit boring and celeb panel shows can feel dated.

‘Bosses always want to try out new ideas and invest in new television projects. It’s time for a change and Iain is not short of work.’

Fans also seemed to be fed up with the show recently, with a post on X, formerly Twitter, stating: ‘#Celebability isn’t really working for me; it looks like random bits from other shows, held together with gaffer tape.

‘Everyone, including Iain Stirling, seems a bit embarrassed to be involved.’

Another said the show wasn’t original, writing: “These games taken from other shows.”

However, Iain will still be busy with his stand-up tour ‘RELEVANT’ which will hit stages across the UK in 2024.

Iain, who is married to ex Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore, started voicing the same show in 2015. The couple married in 2020 and share a daughter, Stevie Re.

An ITV spokesperson said: ‘There are currently no plans for a new series.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Iain Stirling for comment.
