Huge development in case of famed scientist’s daughter who threatens to kill kids in San Francisco
A San Francisco woman who went from living a life of luxury to the streets and allegedly threatened to kidnap and kill children has been placed in psychiatric care after denying criminal charges against her.
Kim Andrews, 37, grew up in a $1.1 million home as the daughter of a famous genius scientist and was once an accomplished athlete.
But she has been on a downward spiral in recent years, which has seen her involved in a series of terrifying incidents in city parks, allegedly terrorizing mothers and their children.
Andrews became infamous in several upscale neighborhoods of San Francisco for roaming the streets, with several locals accusing her of threatening to kidnap scared children or even slit their throats.
At her first court appearance on Monday, her attorney, Deputy Public Defender Tom McMahon, revealed that she had been admitted for psychiatric treatment for the past 120 days. SF Chronicle reports. She was admitted shortly after DailyMail.com revealed her shocking fall from grace.
She entered into a conservatorship agreement in November, and McMahon argued that incarceration could prevent Andrews from getting the proper care she needs.
The indictment focuses on a July incident in which Andrews allegedly approached a mother and her 18-month-old child and shouted, “You’re going to die,” while holding a lighter and a bottle of Lysol.
The court heard Andrews had developed a ‘fixation’ with the child.

“It is difficult to imagine anything more threatening… the messages are appalling,” San Francisco Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Wine ruled.
He branded Andrews ‘a danger to the public’ and said her behavior was ‘extremely threatening’.
Appearing in court is not Andrews’ first brush with the law. The former accomplished high school athletics competitor has faced criminal charges in recent years ranging from battery and theft to shoplifting and criminal threats.
But San Francisco residents say nothing has been done to stop Andrews’ aggressive behavior as she cycles through jails and court before returning to the streets.
They have since joined forces to encourage others to call 911 to report any child harassment, with complaints dating back four years.
Yelena Dunducchenko said she met Andrews in 2020 while she was working as a nanny.
“She started screaming and saying, ‘I’m going to take your child, I’m going to kill you,’” she said. “It was really scary.”
Local Megan Grasser said Andrews’ antics even prompted her to leave San Francisco.
Andrews was an accomplished high school track and field competitor at Torrey Pines High School near San Diego and is the daughter of an acclaimed computer scientist
Parents have reported terrifying encounters with Andrews over the past four years and even posted flyers warning about her
Grasser said she first met Andrews when she was nine months pregnant in late 2020.
The second encounter occurred three months later, when Grasser realized Andrews was chasing her and her dog.
Andrews then spewed a series of vile comments and formed her hand into the shape of a gun, put it to Grasser’s head and said, “I was sent here to kill you.”
Residents in the Cole Valley and Inner Sunset neighborhoods also noticed an increase in encounters with Andrews earlier this year.
Some have described their experiences in detail, with one writing on Reddit that Andrews typically approaches people with “dogs or young children, asks strange questions and then becomes aggressive.”
Her situation is a far cry from the life she once knew as the daughter of a renowned computer scientist, the late Dr. Phillip Andrews.
She grew up in Pennsylvania and Southern California, where she starred as an athlete at Torrey Pines High School near San Diego.
Andrews then attended the University of California San Diego for two years, where she remained enrolled for nearly a decade before dropping out in March 2015 – without completing her degree in biochemistry and cell biology.
A disturbing 2022 Facebook post from Andrews suggested her father – the late supercomputer genius Professor Philip Andrews – was still alive. He died of a heart attack in 2011
The former star athlete has faced a slew of criminal charges including shoplifting, assault and criminal threats
Andrews grew up in a $1.1 million home outside San Diego with her siblings who have since had to disown her
Her late father died of a heart attack in 2011 and is survived by his wife Kathleen, Kim’s mother, who still lives in the family’s $1.1 million Ramona home.
Kim also has three siblings, but posted a disturbing Facebook status in 2022 suggesting her father may not actually be dead.
Her family have since given up attempts to reach Andrews, but insist they have done their best to support her.
In August, Andrews’ sister, June Andrews, sent an email to San Francisco Mayor London Breed, warning that she:has caused major problems for families… by targeting children.
Her brother Ben Andrews also told DailyMail.com that the family had been forced to disown her.
