Woolworths has made a shocking decision to ditch their popular reusable bags – loved by shoppers for their free replacement guarantee.
The supermarket giant has confirmed that it is now phasing out the 99c green bags, a checkout staple in stores across Australia.
The ‘Bag for Good’ is being replaced by a newer version made from more than 70 percent recycled materials.
“We have gradually run out of stock of our green Bag for Good bags, with a sturdy new 99 cent tote bag replacing them,” said a Woolworths spokeswoman.

The 99 cent new look bag is made from largely recycled content and has been rolled out in stores across most Australian states
“Our new 99 cent reusable bag is made from 70 percent recycled content and is already being rolled out in all stores.”
The plain green bags were a popular item thanks to Woolworths’ promise to replace them free of charge if damaged.
Paper bags remain available to customers.

Woolworths’ new tote bags have been unveiled in select stores in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia.
The bags will hit shelves in the Northern Territory and South Australia in the coming weeks.
The new 99 cent bags don’t have a free replacement promise like the old ones. However, the store has reportedly claimed that the new design is more durable than that of the established Bag for Good.
Woolworths will honor free replacement offers on shoppers’ current reusable bags.
