HubSpot customer accounts reportedly hacked – company says it’s investigating
HubSpot appears to have suffered a data breach, but claims to have everything under control for now.
TechCrunch reported that it had picked up reports on social media about a “cyber attack of some sort” against the popular marketing and sales giant.
When asked by the publication, a statement from HubSpot’s Chief Information Security Officer Alyssa Robinson confirmed that the company had “identified a security incident in which malicious actors targeted a limited number of HubSpot customers and attempted to gain unauthorized access to their accounts.”
No details about the attackers
Given the wording of the statement, it appears that the attackers, whoever they are, attempted to break into the account, but were not necessarily successful.
Still, the company continued with its usual practice in the event of a cyberattack: “HubSpot has activated our incident response procedures, and since June 22, we have been contacting affected customers and taking the necessary steps to revoke the unauthorized access and protect our customers and protect their data. Robinson said.
So someone must have compromised their account. Unfortunately, we don’t know how many accounts were targeted. The company claims to have 216,000 customers in over 135 countries, including DoorDash, Reddit, and Tumblr.
TechCrunch HubSpot also asked if the attackers were contacting us (which is standard in ransomware attacks and hacks that steal sensitive data), but received no response.
