Huawei releases first official image of the triple-screen Mate XT, reveals storage options
The first tri-fold phone is almost here, and we already have a sneak peek: the Huawei Mate XT officially launches next Tuesday, but Huawei has already released images and storage options online.
You can go to the huawei store You can now check out the Mate XT in a red finish with gold accents. The site is now letting you pre-order the phone in China, and storage options are listed as 512GB or 1TB, both of which come with 16GB of storage.
Huawei previously posted the same image on social media, and well-known tipster Evan Blass has also the photo shared of the phone with another dark gray color. It seems that these are the two colors that buyers will have to choose from.
Unfortunately, it looks like the Mate XT won’t be available outside of China – in no small part because Huawei devices are still banned in the US. The rest of us will have to wait to get our hands on a tri-fold phone.
Another fold
Adding an extra fold to the standard foldable form factor presents an additional engineering challenge for Huawei, but it also means part of the main display can be used as the outer screen when the device is folded.
With the Mate X and Mate X2, Huawei has previously produced two different types of standard book-style foldables: one that folds inwards, and one that folds outwards. That engineering know-how undoubtedly came in handy when creating the Mate XT.
We have also previously saw a teaser video for the Huawei Mate XT, which offers a brief look at the phone in use. We are still waiting for some key details about the phone, including the main display size and the chipset that will be used inside.
The reveal will take place on Tuesday, September 10: everything starts at 2:30pm China time, which means it will be 11:30pm PT on September 9 and 2:30am ET / 7:30am BST / 4:30pm AEST on September 10.
