Year 12 graduates eagerly awaiting their HSC results were shocked to learn that some students were able to access their grades after they were released early in a devastating website breach.

Students were able to access their final results on the NSW Education Standards Authority website on Saturday after the website was reportedly breached.

Final results weren’t due to be posted until next Thursday, but some students found they could see their grades early Saturday morning.

A spokeswoman for NESA, which oversees the HSC, told NCA NewsWire on Saturday that investigations were underway into how the breach occurred.

NSW school graduates are discussing the HSC breach and whether the results are real

“For a brief period this morning, some students were able to access a preliminary set of 2022 HSC results,” the spokeswoman told NCA NewsWire.

“NESA is investigating the cause of the problem and sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused.

“The final results of the HSC will be published this Thursday.”

Many of the affected students took to social media to question whether the results were legitimate.

“Are the HSC leaked results real? Thanks NESA,” a student questioned on Facebook.

“We broke the NESA website, good job guys,” wrote another.

Crowds of other graduates are now complaining that they couldn’t see their results before the website was shut down. One person complained that they missed the opportunity because they “overslept.”

Students are now reporting that they cannot log into their portals to view any information.

More to come.
