Three men accused of gang-raping a dollar night at a luxury AirBnB are now accused of raping a third woman during a 24-hour series of alleged sexual assaults.
Groom Andrew David, 29, and brothers Marius, 22, and Maurice Howell, 29, face multiple charges of sexual assault and touching without consent.
They were previously accused of assaulting two women, including a teenager, while staying in a loft-style apartment in a plush warehouse in Newcastle, NSW, last year.
But now details of a third alleged victim have been revealed after the men were charged in Sydney’s Downing Center District Court.
Clean barrister Maurice Howell, 29, (left), brother Marius Howell, 22, (right) and overnight groom Andrew David, 29, will face trial on multiple sexual assault charges on June 11, 2024
The trio were arrested last May following a two-month investigation into alleged sexual assaults at the warehouse-style unit in Newcastle West, NSW (pictured)
The three men are accused of subjecting a woman to a two-hour ordeal between 10pm and midnight on February 25, 2022, when the three men allegedly raped her.
They are also accused of touching her sexually without consent and of attempting to rape her.
Clean lawyer Maurice Howell is also accused of attempting to sexually touch the woman himself without her consent.
But now new details have emerged which accuse the trio of assaulting a second woman at the same time.
The second woman was allegedly raped several times by the three men between 11.10pm and 12.20am on February 25 and 26.
The second woman was also allegedly forced to perform oral sex during the alleged ordeal.
The sexual assault allegations continued the following night when David and Maurice Howell allegedly raped a third young woman, aged 19, twice on February 26.
Marius then joined them and the alleged gang-rape continued for 15 minutes before finally ending at 10.50pm, according to police.
The three were said to be celebrating David’s upcoming wedding – which was later ‘changed’ after the trio were accused – with a weekend of celebrations in Newcastle.
All three attended Catholic Boys’ School Patrician Brothers College in Fairfield.
Maurice Howell, of Bossley Park, in Sydney’s west, was arrested on May 6, 2022, following a two-month police investigation.
His younger brother Marius, from neighboring Edensor Park, and civil engineer David were also charged almost three weeks later.
David was arrested at his family’s $3 million five-bedroom mansion, set in two acres of land, in the semi-rural suburb of Horsley Park in Sydney’s west.
His wedding plans on June 18, 2022, were changed due to issues between the guest list and potential witnesses, Fairfield Local Court was told when the men appeared there last year.
The groom and his wife-to-be were said to have abandoned any plans for a honeymoon, the court heard.
The attack is believed to have taken place at the $555-a-night three-bedroom industrial-style conversion in Parry Street, close to the city’s party zone.
Maurice Howell also left a rating and review for the unit on the eve of the weekend, although the review is now empty, but he was thanked for it by the letting agent
The gang-rapes are alleged to have taken place in the converted industrial-style, three-bedroom, $555-a-night flat on Newcastle’s Parry Street, near the city’s party zone.
The apartment’s listing says it can cater for up to six guests and boasts two king-size beds and one queen-size bed.
Pictures from inside the unit reveal a luxurious leather suite and a giant TV, with an open-plan kitchen and a luxury shower and wet room bathroom.
One reviewer praised the ‘good location and nice space for larger groups’.
Maurice Howell also left a review and rating for the unit on the eve of the weekend, although the review is now empty, but he was thanked for it by the letting agent.
Only he is accused of attempting to sexually touch the first woman on February 25, 2022 without consent.
All three are accused of attempting to have sexual intercourse with her without consent and sexually touching her without consent and in each other’s company.
All three are also charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault by having sex without consent in each other’s company.
All three are also charged with two counts of having sex with the second young woman without her consent and in the company of others.
Andrew David and Maurice Howell are charged with two counts of having sex without the consent of the third woman the other night in the company of others.
The three are also accused of two other charges of having sexual relations without the consent of the third woman.
The trio denied all charges and pleaded not guilty when they appeared in Sydney’s Downing Center District Court on August 11.
Their bail was continued and the case will return to court on May 3, 2024, with a trial date set for June 11. It is expected to last six weeks.
