How to watch the Google Pixel 9 launch event live

The next Made by Google event is scheduled for August 13th. At this event, we can expect to see a bunch of Pixel devices, from new phones to new smartwatches, and a bunch of AI features.

The Made by Google event follows on from Google I/O 2024 showcase in May, where the search giant discussed Android’s AI future, its Google Gemini AI chatbot, and the super-smart Project Astra. If the latter ever makes it out of the lab, that is.

The August event will focus on hardware, however, with new phones and wearables sure to take center stage. Still, we expect Google to tout plenty of AI features for these new devices.

Google has already officially stated that the Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be unveiled during the Made by Google event. We also expect to see the Google Pixel 9.

The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro aren’t expected to feature huge upgrades over their predecessors. But images so far show a new horizontal pill-shaped design for the Pro’s rear cameras, and leaked images have shown the change will trickle down to the standard Pixel 9. Also expect to see a new Tensor G-series chip, aimed at powering AI tools on the device.

There have been rumors and tidbits surrounding a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, which would seemingly get a larger display and battery for the next-generation Pixel lineup. However, it’s unclear whether the XL phone, if legitimate, will have any unique features beyond its display and battery.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold looks to be a big upgrade over the Google Pixel Fold. Expect a powerful chipset, a new array of rear cameras that appear to echo the specs and capabilities of the 9 Pro, and a tweaked design to create a thinner foldable phone that still has a large internal display.

There are also hints that we can expect the rumoured Google Pixel Watch 3, with hopes of improved performance, better battery life, and a suite of smart features. And we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2, which are likely to feature improved audio over their predecessors, as well as be compatible with Google Gemini AI features.
