A terrifying horror film banned in New Zealand has gone viral on TikTok more than a decade after its release.

Megan is Missing raised concerns about its violent sexual content when the film first hit theaters in 2011.

It was banned by New Zealand’s Office of Film & Literature Classification in October of that year due to its “offensive” nature.

The film, which is about the mysterious disappearance of a 14-year-old girl after meeting a stranger online, has gone viral on TikTok as a new generation discovered it.

Users have described it as “one of the most disturbing movies ever.”

Michael Goi, the director, was forced to release his own warnings about the movie in 2020 on the popular social media app after its revival.

“Don’t watch the movie in the middle of the night,” he said.

“Don’t just watch the movie.” And when you see the words “picture number one” appear on your screen, you’ve got about four seconds to close the movie if you’re already freaking out a bit before you start seeing things you might not want to see.’

The film’s director, Michael Goi (below), warned viewers not to watch the film alone at night following its recent resurgence in popularity
