Google I/O 2024, the search giant’s developer and software-focused event, is scheduled for May 14 and it should be quite an event for fans of Android and AI.
That’s because we expect to learn more about Android 15, find out which of the many new features we’ve seen rumored made it to the full release, and likely hear about a whole bunch of new software and tools based on generative AI.
We’re not expecting any new hardware, unfortunately – I/O isn’t usually an event where Google launches hardware, although this has happened in the past, as we saw last year with the Google Pixel Fold.
So, read on to find out how to watch Google I/O 2024.
How to watch Google I/O 2024?
Google I/O will be streamed live on May 14, with the keynote starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST, which is May 15 at 3am AEST.
The best way to view Google I/O is enabled YouTube on Google’s main account. But you can also go to the Google I/O website to register your interest and get official information from the search giant.
But if you don’t have time to watch the entire keynote, we’ll cover all the news from the event, along with analysis and reaction to what Google is showing. And we’ll definitely have some interesting videos about and from I/O on the website Ny Breaking TikTok.
What to expect during the Google I/O 2024 keynote
Overall, there haven’t been many hints about what we’ll see at this year’s Google I/O. The Google Pixel 8a has been unveiled and will go on sale on May 14, so expect to hear about it at I/O. And with that, expect a deeper look at Android 15 and what new features you can expect.
Google’s Wear OS 5 could also get a look, but we don’t expect anything too radical, at least given the lack of rumors surrounding the wearable OS.
We also expect updates and new features to popular Google tools such as Google Maps and Google Photos, in addition to tweaks to Chrome and G Suite.
There’s a chance that new Chromebooks and Chrome OS updates will be teased or even revealed. And Google could discuss with Samsung what it is working on in the field of augmented reality.
We suspect we’ll hear a lot about generative AI and other smart computing techniques and tools, as AI is very much fashionable. Therefore, expect to hear how developers can leverage AI tools and incorporate them into their apps, and how generative AI can empower creative types; hopefully, without stealing their jobs.
Google I/O may still have some surprises in store, and we’ll be at the keynote to bring you the latest news, insights and analysis from the event. So be sure to come back to Ny Breaking on Tuesday.
