In Diablo 4, Aspects are passive elements that you can add to your loadout to give your character enhanced skills or additional utilities. It contains more than a hundred aspects Diablo 4. Some are class-specific – with passive features that only increase your Rogue, Sorcerer, or Barbarian abilities, for example – while others can be used as any class. Aspects are necessary to tackle more difficult content as they take your build to the next level. Keep reading to find out how to get Aspects and how to equip them.
What are aspects in Diablo 4?
Aspects are essentially Legendary powers that you can manually add to non-Legendary gear you already own. These effects can modify existing abilities for your class or give you a powerful tool such as an immunity shield when your health drops too low. Each aspect can be placed in one of the following categories: defensive, offensive, resource, utility, or mobility.
To unlock Aspects, you need either one reach level 25 or get the Codex of power, which can be earned by completing a dungeon (hover over a dungeon on the map to see which Codex of Power it unlocks for you). You can find out which aspects you own by opening the “Collections” tab or by pressing “Y” on the PC. If you select the Codex of Power, you will see every available aspect Diablo 4 while marking the one you own.
How do you get more aspects in Diablo 4?
You can unlock aspects in two ways:
- Complete the dungeon of that aspect.
- Extracting an aspect from a piece of legendary equipment.
If you get a Legendary item to drop in front of you from a Boss or Chest, you can get its power from the Occultist. Unpacking it destroys the Legendary, but adds the Aspect to your current character’s inventory, which you can in turn print onto a new, more powerful item.
Aspects added to your Codex of Power can be used by any character in that realm, so it doesn’t matter which class you complete a dungeon with, as every character you own has access to the reward.
Printing and extracting aspects in Diablo 4
Travel to the Occultist, indicated by an icon of three connected circles on the map, in a major city. In Kyovashad, the main town in the Fractured Peaks region, the Occultist is located in the upper left part of town. Interact with the Occultist to open two menus: the Aspect menu and your inventory.
Print aspects on your equipment
- Select the equipment from your inventory that you want to add an aspect to.
- Choose an Aspect from your Codex of Power or your inventory to use.
- Press the “Print aspect” button at the bottom of the menu to receive your new device.
It will cost you gold and Veiled crystalssaved from rare weapons and armor, to imprint an Aspect.
Getting aspects out of your gear
- Select the second tab from the menu on the left.
- Choose the Legendary article from your inventory with the aspect you want to extract.
- Preview the new item to make sure you get the aspect you want.
- Click the “Extract Aspect” button at the bottom of the menu.
Extracting an aspect of an item will destroy it in the process, so make sure you have a replacement item ready before unpacking. Unlike imprinting, it only costs gold to extract an aspect.
