How to use a new free AI tool to write songs (including lyrics) for free.
Do you have an idea for a song, but you’re not sure how to write it? Maybe you just have a text that you want to put a tune to? A new free AI music generator called Tad AI gives you the chance to bring those ideas to life and produce royalty-free songs in seconds with minimal input. The relatively simple interface produces quite impressive results. Whether it can continue the thread and avoid the issues that cause legal and ethical problems for Suno, Udio and other AI music generators remains to be seen.
Tad AI offers different levels of music writing assistance. It’s similar to its rivals, but remarkably intuitive in the way you produce the song. You can describe in as much detail as you want the song to sound, but Tad AI does have quite a few music genres and moods to choose from that are already available. The genre options obviously relate to the genre of the song, but the mood-based list of options can vary the tone within that genre, as a rock or rap song can be sad, romantic, or angry while still being the same genre .
In addition to the music, you can also ask Tad AI to write lyrics that correspond to a written assignment. The AI produces the lyrics based on your intention or the theme. You can also write your own texts. Then all you need is a title and the AI will do the rest.
After playing with it for a while, I produced the song below. The music is all by Tad AI, but I wrote the lyrics after Tad AI’s first few attempts didn’t really appeal to me. They did inspire me though, and if Tad AI were human, I’d at least co-credit them on the arrangement and probably have to negotiate the lyric rights. You can listen to it below and hear it on this link.
Royalty-free (and lawsuit)?
As AI music generators become more prominent and introduce new features such as Suno’s genre remixer and mobile app, the issue of lawsuits from major music labels will likely only become more complex. Therefore, one of Tad AI’s main selling points is its ability to generate royalty-free music if you sign up for its paid plans. If Tad AI’s promise of 100% original compositions is fully delivered, the appeal to aspiring music makers, not to mention brands on a budget, is obvious.
Songs without potential legal challenges or licensing fees are music to the ears of people looking to cut costs. It can even be useful with existing content on platforms like YouTube, which recently launched a tool that can remove copyrighted music from your video without removing it completely. You could replace it with something from Tad AI instead.
You can use Tad AI for free, but you only get a limited number of credits and each song costs about five credits. If you want more, you can sign up for the basic plan for $10 per month and you’ll get 1,000 credits, about 200 songs, and three simultaneously produced songs. With the Pro plan for $30 per month you get 3,000 credits, six simultaneously produced songs and even faster song generation. You have to pay for the full royalty-free track access, so that’s probably where anyone who wants to use the tool professionally will go.
