How to upgrade potion potency in Final Fantasy 16
In the beginning of FinalFantasy 16, you may be okay with the healing power of your potions and the duration of your tonics, but as you progress through the story they won’t be as effective. Your health total will increase while your potions will heal for the same amount. To solve that, you just need to complete the side mission”The root of the problem.” It will take some time to reach this quest though, so hold on tight!
We’ve currently upgraded the potency of our potions and tonics once through the side quest ‘The Root of the Problem’ and we know you can upgrade the potency one more time thanks to the ‘With Two Ds’ trophy, but we have we haven’t done so in our game yet. We’ll update this post with more information once we figure out how to upgrade potion and tonic potency a second time.

In FinalFantasy 16can you upgrade the power of your consumables through the side mission”The root of the problem.”
‘The Root of the Problem’ side quest location and walkthrough

To unlock the side mission “The Root of the Problem” you must first complete the “After the stormmain scenario quest.
- Talk to Nigel to start the side mission “The Root of the Problem”. He will ask you to search for morganbeards in the north of Rosaria.
- Journey to the “Martha’s rest” obelisk in Rosariaand go to the quest marker to the left of Sorrowise.

3. Quickly grab the three morganbeards and run or defeat all the goblins in the area to collect the morganbeards safely.
4. Return the morganbeards to Nigel in the Hideaway to complete the side mission “The Root of the Problem”.

Once you successfully complete the quest, Nigel will give you morgan beard extract, which increases the power of your consumables. With the bottle of morganbeard extract, your potions and high portions restore more HP, while strength tonics, stonekin tonics and lionheart tonics last longer.
Now that you’ve improved the potency of your consumables, you should also increase your inventory space!
