The ranked mode for Marvel Rivals is formally called the competitive queueAnd. Here you can really test your mettle and prove yourself against your fellow players. But Marvel RivalsRanked mode is not immediately accessible when you first start playing.
In this Marvel Rivals guide, we will guide you through it how to unlock ranked modehow the competitive queue works and what you get for participating in it.
How to unlock ranked mode in Marvel Rivals
To unlock the ranked playlist in Marvel Rivals, you need to bring your account level to level 10. Depending on how you perform, this will probably get you in between 25 to 40 quick play matches. Since quick play matches live up to their name, this could take you less than five hours with the game, but probably much closer to three or four.
Once you unlock competitive mode, it’s unlocked forever and you can jump in any season to show off your talent.
How ranked mode works in Marvel Rivals
There are a few differences between Quick Play modes and Ranked modes.
For example, in each match, both teams can play both offensive and defensive in a mode like Convoy, and the winner is determined by who gets the furthest. Most modes attempt to remove some of the randomness provided by quick play so that both sides have almost an equal chance of winning at the start of the match.
Winning games in the Competitive Playlist will award you points. As you earn more points and progress through the levels, you’ll eventually reach a new rank, such as from bronze to silver or from gold to platinum. You also lose points if you lose a match (unless you earn the SVP award for your team). You can only group and match with players who are in an adjacent rank. So a silver player can play with bronze or gold players, but not with platinum players.
From low to high the ranks are as follows:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Grandmaster
- Eternity
- One above all
From Eternity onwards you no longer have levels for your rank, but instead just collect points as you play so you can achieve them One above all (top 500) place. Eternity is the only rank where your points start to expire if you don’t play long enough.
Ranked play rewards in Marvel Rivals
As you ascend you will unlock certain rewards for your account. From gold onwards you get a special skin that is only suitable for the rankings. For the game’s preseason (season 0), it is a gold Moon Knight skin called Golden Moonlight. With Grandmaster you unlock a number of them flair for your nameplate to show how good you are. And if you reach One Above All by being a top 500 player by season’s end, you’ll earn an even better flair for your nameplate.
Your rewards are based on the highest rank you achieved in a given seasonso even if you reach gold and lose until you are converted back to silver, you will still get the special skin when the season ends.
