How to unlock the Mystic Spearhand summoning in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The Mystical Spear Hand vocation is one of the coolest in Dragon dogma 2, and essentially lets you tackle dragons, griffins and minotaurs as fantasy Darth Maul – fulfilling a lifelong dream we all share, right? (Right?)

Unfortunately, Mystic Spearhand is one of the mysterious hybrid vocations available only to you (and not to your pawns). Dragon dogma 2. And it’s one of the six locked callings at the beginning. You’ll need to find a special NPC and unlock it before changing your calling to the Mystic Spearhand.

In this Dragon dogma 2 guide, we’ll show you how and when to find Sigurd so you can unlock the Mystic Spearhand calling for yourself.

When can you unlock Mystic Spearhand in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

The Mystic Spearhand calling is the first of the hybrid callings you can enter Dragon dogma 2. If you know exactly where to look, you can find it in your account first five hours with the game.

To trigger this unlock, follow our guide on which of Captain Brant’s quests in Vernworth you should do first. When you’re done “Sample cull‘ (which in turn helps you unlock the Warrior and Sorcerer vocations) and turn it in to Brant, then you’re ready to unlock the Mystic Spearhand.

After you complete Brant’s first quest, travel back to Melve – the city recovering from the dragon attack. I recommend that you travel quickly by ox cart from Vernworth as otherwise it is quite a long and windy journey and the cart can get you there in seconds.

Once you arrive, you’ll find the village under attack by another dragon – one with gross, pulsating sores all over its body. Rally the city’s defenses and fight the dragon, climb over its entire body and stab the sores. Once it escapes, look for a hooded man with a double-sided spear. His name is Sigurd (as shown in the screenshot above) and he is here to hunt the dragon you just drove away.

Talk to Sigurd and ask him about his unique fighting style. When you end the conversation, you unlock the Mystic Spearhand calling.

But what if you missed the conversation with Sigurd after the battle? Or you just couldn’t find it in Melve? Once Harve Village is repopulated, after the quest “Scaly Invaders”, you can also find him in his house there.

Return to Harve Village anytime after Puss’s attack on Melve. On the east side of town, in the last house with an ocean view: the Coastal Hut on the map you will find Sigurd. Invite yourself and talk to him. Make use of his dialogue options and you’ll automatically unlock Mystic Spearhand when you regain control of your character.
