How to unlock Link in The Super Mario Bros. Movie
The Super Mario Bros. movie premiered Wednesday, and the cast is a 40-year parade of Nintendo characters, from Donkey Kong to the extended family of Mario and Luigi. It is a grate worthy of such a thing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (who also gets a hat-tip in the movie).
Now take this with a grain of popcorn, but I heard there is Actually an unlockable Legend of Zelda mode for this movie. If you go see it a second time and follow the exact process below, you’ll be presented with a secret scroll where all Mario characters are swapped for Zelda characters. Mario is Link, Peach is Zelda, Toad is Tingle and Charles Martinet is replaced by Jonathan Potts.
Pinky swear. i just now read this from the back of Scholastic’s Dynamite magazine in the elementary school library. Anyway, here’s the secret code to unlock Link and co. in The Super Mario Bros. movie:
- Buy a ticket for a matinee. It must be a matinee.
- Sit in the middle seat of the front row of the theater.
- Put your mobile phone on mute (very important).
- Get up twice and sit down.
- Sit in the chair immediately to the left.
- Sit in the chair directly to the right.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6.
- Press B, A and then START. (A photo of Mister T should appear on the movie screen if done correctly.)
- Don’t say anything for the rest of the movie. Or, if you must speak, do so only in a low, polite tone to a companion or the usher. (Also very important!)
Note that you can’t do some of this at home, so this cheat code will only work in theater. (Although you can still mute your phone when watching the movie on streaming. And that will be better.)
I am 100% sure this hack works. I asked my uncle who works for Nintendo and my aunt who works for Illumination and they said it was true. So do you have Link in your movie? Let us know in the comments!
