How to switch on a Halloween theme in Opera GX with this hidden easter egg

As we’re on the cusp of Halloween and a night of trick-and-treating, there’s always an app to help us get into the Christmas spirit, and this year’s example is the Opera GX web browser. It is available on iOS and Android with a secret theme.
Opera GX is, based on our tests, a nice web browser with a focus on gaming. On the desktop, you can view Twitch streams and Discord chats in the browser. You can’t do the same on the mobile version of Opera GX, but you still get the Halloween theme.
Admittedly, while it is mainly a holiday of fear and terror when it comes to games (opens in new tab), Opera has a tamer, hidden orange theme to mark Halloween. I visited the team earlier this month where they showed me how to access it.
How to turn Opera GX into ghostly orange
This is a simple affair that starts with: by pressing the Opera logo at the bottom right. Scroll down until you find Settingsand press it.
You see a ‘Appearance‘ title at the top. pres that five times. If you do it right, you’ll see a row of pumpkins appear and suddenly everything turns orange, or “Veggie” as Opera GX calls it.
If you’re having trouble with this, scroll down and tap three times tap ‘Version’ to reset the theme.
Using Opera GX with an orange theme is great. It’s the perfect shade for Halloween.
The only problem I’ve noticed is that the fonts on the homepage don’t change in dark mode, so some black text that hasn’t changed might be hard to see. It’s also a shame there isn’t an app icon with the Opera logo as a pumpkin, but maybe next year.
Either way, it’s a small price to pay for a secret holiday-marking theme – how about a hidden Christmas theme with the Opera logo turned into a bauble?
