Apple users have become frustrated after their iPhone alarms didn’t go off.

The issues are causing a stir on social media, with many users complaining that the alarms weren’t waking them up for work or school – and some claiming this had been happening for days.

It’s not clear how widespread the problem is, but the tech giant has acknowledged the bug and is working on a fix.

In the meantime, affected users can check the settings to ensure the volume slider for ringtones and alerts is up.

Do you trust your iPhone alarm clock? Check that the ‘Attention Aware’ feature is not enabled, as some users say it has caused them to miss alarms.

The matter was made public on the Today Toon Tuesday following dozens of messages on social media.

The segment shared TikTok videos of iPhone users suffering from the nightmare of not hearing their alarms.

Apple is aware that some iPhones do not play the expected sound, according to the Today Show.

In the meantime, iPhone users should investigate whether they have activated the ‘Attention Aware’ feature as this could be the cause of their problem.

This setting allows the iPhone to check whether a user is paying attention.

If the user looks at their device – something the phone can detect with the front camera – their phone will lower the volume on alerts.

The logic is that if you’re already paying attention to your phone, you don’t need a loud alarm to sound.

But this means you may miss the alarm if the volume is too low.

iPhone users speculated that the Attention Aware feature is incorrectly detecting attention, but Apple has not confirmed whether this is the case.

Some users who disabled the feature reported that it fixed the problem for them.

To check if ‘Attention Aware’ is activated on your iPhone, go to the Settings menu and scroll down to ‘Face ID & Passcode’.

Tap that button and scroll down until you see “Attention Aware Features.”

If the Attention Aware Features switch is green, slide it to the left to turn it off. Some users have said this has solved their alarm clock problem.

If the feature is enabled (with the slider to the right), disable it by sliding the switch to the left.

But if that’s not the problem, check the sound settings under ‘Sound & Haptics’ to make sure your volume isn’t too low.

Also check the sound settings for each alarm you have set.

It is possible that some of your alarms were accidentally set without a ringtone.

For maximum reliability, nothing beats an old-fashioned alarm clock.
