How to reach the Cerulean Coast in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

To the Cerulean Coast is something you can do right away in Elden Ring‘S Shadow of the Erdtree DLC — provided you know your way around.

The Cerulean Coast is one of the five main areas in the Realm of Shadow and has its own map fragment for those who want to fully explore the world.

However, due to the two-dimensional way the map works, it’s difficult to miss the route required to reach the south coast, which requires you to traverse a series of underground caves that run beneath the starting area.

This Elden Ring guide explains where to find this route and how to cross it safely to the Cerulean Coast.

How to get to the Cerulean Coast in Elden Ring DLC

To begin your journey to the Cerulean Coast, you’ll start at the front of Castle Ensis. We specifically recommend the Castle Front Site of Grace, which you’ll find just past a bridge after you first encounter several NPCs at the crossroads in the Gravesite Plain starting area.

From here, head south and then take the road to the left (don’t go back over the bridge). Follow the path until another route goes off to the right and continue in that direction.

Travel past the various enemies and the path will split again. Take the left path, under a rock arch.

You now enter a green swamp-like area. This green spot is visible from the map, if that’s helpful for finding your way.

You’ll find yourself on the edge of a cliff as the swampy area stretches out before you. Drop down one level and head north, away from the cliff, and head down a grass-lined slope toward the blue water on the map.

You’ll know you’re in the right area when you see a giant crab in shallow water. Ignore the crab, and at the end of this area is a giant plant enemy next to a cave opening. Go inside.

Inside the cave, take the left route up over the rocks and continue the linear route until you reach the Ellac River Cave Site of Grace on your right. It is highly recommended to take a rest here as there is a tricky platforming section ahead.

If you haven’t already, head via Torrent and continue on, where the route will soon open up. Keep left and you’ll be at the top of a waterfall, with a series of isolated rocks in front of you. In the next section you’ll actually follow a river down, but let’s take it step by step.

Use these first rocks as platforms to continue. These are deceptively difficult jumps to make; we recommend double jumping early in the jump because the distance between them is not as great as you think.

Below you are at the top of another waterfall, with a number of birds on graves further on. If you go left, you’ll want to sprint past all of these on Torrent as quickly as possible, as they will attack as soon as you get closer. Provided you only get hit once, you should survive. But if you’re having a hard time here, try to get some Scadutree Fragments to boost your defenses.

On the other side of this section – where you have the cliff face on your right – you have more rocks to jump off. You don’t need to jump here – just point the camera so you can see below you and just jump down each time – until you reach the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace.

You’re almost done with this river section. Stay to the right and continue down to another level, staying right at the mouth to avoid the water and get out.

You will be greeted by a Furnace Golem. Ignore it for now and quickly move to the right of the Golem. There will be a cave opening to your right – take it.

This then opens up to the Cerulean Coast. You made it! Rest at the Cerulean Coast Site of Grace so you can quickly travel here and save yourself from having to repeat this journey again.

However, before you set out on your journey, we strongly recommend that you head south and follow the path through the open area, where just on the other side lies the map fragment of the area. There is also a Miquella’s Cross and a Scadutree Fragment just south.

And with that, you have another region to explore. There are more DLC armors and DLC weapons to find, and more bosses to fight if you’re powerful enough.
