Gun durability is back in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and with it comes interesting ways to keep your weapon from exploding in your hands. Crafting weapons can produce interesting results, but Tears of the KingdomThe Fuse system works largely based on how sturdy the base of your weapon is. This will play a role in how durable a weapon is, although there are some methods to (very marginally) increasing weapon durability.
However, if you somehow want to reset the durability of your weapons in Tears of the Kingdom, you’re out of luck. Undoing the Fusing items in Tarrey Town will not reverse a weapon’s deterioration. This also applies to the method of defusing weapons and shields by destroying the materials attached to them directly through your inventory. Only5 some item combinations can make a weapon last longer.
How to increase the durability of weapons in Tears of the Kingdom
To make a weapon with a high degree of durability, you want to avoid using an expired item as a base at first. This also applies to weapons made of metal, as the return of Ganondorf has affected certain items with an enigmatic affliction called gloom.
Gloom essentially affects all metal-based weapons with reduced durability, extending to swords and spears found around the world. Interestingly enough, Zonai weapons are not affected by Gloom. So if you have one strong Sunite sword (which can be obtained in the air islands) and Fuse a diamond to it, you can craft a pretty powerful weapon that will last a decent amount of time.
Additionally, fusing decayed weapons together as the second part of a weapon will sometimes cause your weapons to shatter and burn – so avoid that. For example Fusing a rusty claymore and a strong thick stick caused the rusty claymore to break before the sturdy thick stick reached its minimum durability.
You can also check and see when a weapon is about to break by going to your inventory. If the weapon or piece glows red, there is a chance that it will break extremely quickly. If you want to save the attached material or weapon, go to Tarrey Town and talk to Pelison. This can help you with rarer materials such as rubies, diamondsAnd sapphires.
Ultimately, you can’t completely lose gun durability, but you can prevent guns from shattering in your hands for extended periods of time. Using diamonds to increase an item’s overall durability – not to mention diamonds increase your weapon’s attack by 20 points of damage – make them incredibly valuable. So definitely consider heading back to Tarrey Town to save your diamonds if a weapon they’re fused to is about to break.
