How to give a hired Specialist Character a command in Fortnite

One of the FortniteThe Spring Breakout quests require you to command “a hired Specialist Character”, meaning you must hire specific NPCs and command them to move or stay still. Completing this quest will reward you with XP and get closer to completing cosmetically rewarding bonus goals.

How to hire a specialist character

Please note that not all NPCs are considered ‘Specialized Characters’, but the in-game map will highlight the locations of the eligible characters when you select the quest. The Specialized NPCs are Garrison, Longshot, Polar Patroller, Remedy, Triage Trooper, Sludge, Munitions Expert, and Insight.

As with other NPCs, all you have to do is approach them and give them gold bars to hire them.

These NPCs will do special things like provide ammunition or scan the area for enemies and items.

How to command NPCs Fortnite

Once you hire an NPC, the button to issue the command will appear in the top left corner of your screen. We’re playing on PC, so we had to hold down the middle mouse button for a command wheel to appear.

Just pick a selection from the wheel and your quest is complete, rewarding you with a hefty amount of XP.
