How to get Ubasam Wood in Return to Moria
Ubasam wood is one of the materials you need to find Return to Moria for too long. As is the case in most survival games, you slowly progress through the layers of resources and tools, starting with the simplest equipment and gradually building up to the strongest. To do this, you’ll need to build more crafting equipment on your base, such as a bellows, a furnace, and a loom.
The latter can only be made with Ubasam Wood and is needed to turn skin scraps into skin, as described in our guide on how to get steel. You can also craft the First Age Pickaxe with Ubasam Wood, which is stronger than the Steel Pickaxe. Here’s what you need to know how to get Ubasam wood in Return to Moria.
How to get Ubasam Wood in Return to Moria
To get into Ubasam Wood Return to Moria, you must go to the lower depths. This is an area accessible from the Crystal Descent, which in turn can be found near the Mines of Moria. You also need to fully explore Orc Town and repair the tackle first. When you get there, make sure to rebuild a destroyed map stone, or build one from scratch, so you can quickly travel back up if you need to.
Once you reach the Lower Deeps (you’ll need to descend about 100 fathoms) you can start acquiring Ubasam Wood. Unlike Elven Wood, however Ubasam wood does not come from trees. Instead, you’ll want to look for some mushrooms.
There are several different types in the Lower Deeps, but any of them should do the job. Cut them down and you will receive Ubasam Wood.
How to use Ubasam Wood in Return to Moria
Ubasam Wood is used for a number of different essentials:
- Pickaxe from the first century
- Loom
- Gemstone Cutter
The First Age Pickaxe requires three Steel Ingots and one Black Diamond in addition to four Ubasam Wood, but you also need the Gem Cutter to craft it. This requires 10 bricks, three steel blocks and 10 Ubasam wood.
The loom requires considerably more: 24 Ubasam wood, three silver bars, and six cloth scraps. However, once you have a Loom in your base, you can craft both Leather and Hide, which are basic tools you’ll need throughout the game.
We recommend farming as much Ubasam Wood as possible when you initially head to the Lower Deeps, as you can never have too much, and it’s also useful for other First Age gear.
