How to get tungsten in starfield
Tungsten is rare but extremely important source in Starfield. You’ll need it for a lot of different machines if you’re building out your own outpostsSo it is important to get a tungsten mine operational as quickly as possible. The problem is that tungsten can be difficult to obtain in the wide universe Starfield – at least for free.
In this Starfield guide, we will guide you through it where to find tungsten and how to make as many of them as you want (as long as you’re on the PC).
Where can you find tungsten? Starfield
Tungsten is a bit tricky to detect Starfield – at least in the early game. You can find it on many different planets in the universe, but many of them have extreme environments, meaning you can’t build an outpost on them until you get the Planetary home skill (which requires you to reach the Master level of the Science skill tree) and upgrade it to at least rank one to deal with extreme temperatures.
The alternative is to find a celestial body with a lot of tungsten on it and an extreme environment. Enter Voss, a moon of Olivas, a gas giant in Alpha Centauri system.
Voss is packed with resources including water, pipe, nickeleven uranium. But tungsten is the most valuable resource of all – and there is plenty of it to be had. Go to Voss, open your scanner and choose one of the huge gray areas to land in. The only bad thing about Voss is that it isn’t helium-3 offer, which means you have to use it solar panels for strength. But once you settle on this planet, you will have an unlimited supply of tungsten. In fact, you can get this farm up and running quite early in the game, which will make your life much easier as you try to expand into the galaxy.
There are a few other tungsten-rich planets in both Alpha Centauri and Sol systems we want to call up. Each of these has extreme environments, but once you upgrade your Planetary Habitation skill you can create a second, third, or even fourth tungsten farm on one or more of these:
- Bondarplanet in the Alpha Centauri system
- Titanmoon of Jupiter in the Sol system
- Plutoplanet in the Sol system
Where to buy tungsten
You can (and should) buy tungsten at all the usual commodity stores Starfield: Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis, the UC exchange in Cydonia, and the Mining League in Neon. You might also have luck with your local one Trade Authorityso it’s worth taking a look inside.
Every day you’re in the game you should be able to find quite a bit of tungsten at Jemison Mercantile. And when they run out, you can always go to wait on a nearby seat or return to your ship and sleep for 24 hours. When you come back you should be able to buy more. If not, rest for another 24 hours and come back.
Item ID of tungsten
Starfield has console commands – at least on PC – that you can use to do different things, like give yourself unlimited storage or, in this case, give yourself specific items.
To give yourself tungsten, you must use its object ID codethat is: 0000556B.
Press on the ` key any time during your Starfield playthrough and you will get the console command brought up. Here is the full console command to give yourself 20 tungsten Starfield:
- player.additem 0000556B 20
You can copy/paste the above code directly into your console command, without bullets.
If you want to get more tungsten in one command, change the 20 at the end of the code above to 50, 100, or even 1,000. Once you press Enter, you can find the resource in your inventory.
It is worth mentioning that the use of console commands can turn off performance in Starfieldso be careful if you are an achievement hunter.
What is tungsten used for? Starfield?
You mainly need tungsten for building heavy mining machines Starfieldthe most outstanding solid resource extractors for your outposts.
To build a self-sustaining tungsten farm – with a generator fed with helium-3 and at least two solid extractors – you need at least eight tungsten (as well as other materials). If you have a Transfer containerso you can get the tungsten while you’re still in your ship, you’ll need five more.
We recommend purchasing about twenty tungsten before building a tungsten mine, or any other resource such as iron or aluminum.
