How to get to Gerudo Town in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomas you make your way Gerudo desert And Gerudo cityyou will find that everything beyond the Kara-Kara Bazaar is covered with dense vegetation sandstorm.

Navigating the sandstorm shouldn’t be much of a problem — if it didn’t completely obscure your card while you’re in it. (However, if you’re not in the sandstorm, you can see the region’s topography on your map.)

Before you start, make sure you grab the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, which will reveal the area.

Our guide data how to get through the sandstorm in the Gerudo desert and how to actually get to Gerudo Town below.

How to get through the Gerudo desert

Before heading out, you must have some form of cold resistance and heat resistance. Temperatures in the Gerudo Desert rise during the day and fall at night, so be prepared for both.

You also don’t have to walk to Gerudo Town. By combining a Zonai sled, tiller and fan you can create a cool vehicle to tear through the desert sands. We ran through it on foot, which we describe below.

Around the desert, there are several updrafts you can use to glide up, giving you a sense of your position. You want to take full advantage of this.

The first updraft is right where the sandstorm starts at the edge of Kara-Kara Bazaar:

Ride up and just start sliding straight to Gerudo Town. It’s best to just keep driving as straight as possible and do your best to avoid unnecessary turns.

You’ll see more updrafts and even tall rock structures along the way, all of which you should use to get a sense of where you are.

If you keep going straight, there’s a good chance you’ll hit the Desert Rift, a large gorge that you’ll need to cross. You can slide and climb up, fly around, use rockets, etc. to get through.

You will also encounter Gibdo – a special type of monster that takes less damage from physical attacks – on its way to Gerudo Town. You will have to hit it with an elemental attack (such as a shock fruit on an arrow or a flamethrower), which will deal massive damage. Once hit with an elemental attack, it turns white and temporarily takes normal damage from physical attacks.

If you continue, you will come to Gerudo Town. You will notice that it is very empty.

How to get to Gerudo Town

Other than some extra Gibdo prowling around, Gerudo Town is completely empty. Enter the cave in the middle of the stairs to the throne room and see a Gerudo woman standing guard in front of a bunker. Of course, since Link is a man, they won’t let him in.

Using Ultrahand on the nearby chest and jumping on it to peek inside will give you a hint on where to go, but you can skip this if you don’t care.

Go back outside and jump into this pit to the left of the bunker when facing the entrance.

Jump in and swim upstream, towards where the letters-in-a-bottle float down. Once you get to the end of the well (where there’s a vase hanging from a rope), climb up. Ta-da! You have now shocked and frightened many women by invading their war bunker.

After some clarification, Link is of course allowed to stay and you can come and go freely from the Gerudo Shelter if you talk to the guards.

Gerudo Town will eventually return to its former glory, but you must first complete the “Riju of Gerudo Town” questline, which begins shortly after you enter the hideout.

Also, don’t forget to ascend (several times) from the throne room in Gerudo Town to access the Soryotanog Shrine, which allows you to quickly travel near the city.
