How to get the Wild Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomfind pieces of the Wild armor takes place in the depths, and while it may not be the prettiest armor in the game, it offers a ton of defense when fully charged.

The outfit was originally the reward for completing all shrines Breath of the Wildso the game notes that it looks familiar to you – and it fits perfectly!

All three pieces of the Wild Armor – the Hood of the Wilderness, Tunic of the WildernessAnd Pants of the wilderness – are found in the skulls of skeletons in the depths. Be prepared to fight a few monsters: viz Terrible ones hanging from the inner spine of the skeleton. You may also encounter Gloomy hands (and therefore a Phantom Ganon), depending on which side you get to the different skeletons. We managed to avoid a few by using a Zonai hoverbike.

Cap of the Wild (leader) location

The Hood of the Wilderness is in the northwesternmost part of the depths, hidden in yes, the skull of a skeleton. They’re about finished (-3956, 3721, -0859):

Unfortunately, the closest entrance to the Deep Gorge is Hyrule Ridge Chasm, west of Runakit Shrine. We hoverbiked using two fans and a steering device and carefully floated to the top, pausing at lightroots along the way. Both Muotue and Kato Lightroot appear equidistant from the chest containing the Cap of the Wild.

Technically speaking, the Rito Village Chasm is closer to the treasury, yes, but that chasm leads you to a closed area. So don’t go down hoping to be closer to the Cap of the Wild.

The limit starts at +4 defense before being upgraded.

Tunic of the Wild (chest piece) location

The Tunic of the Wilderness is located in the southwesternmost part of the map in the skull of a skeleton at the approximate coordinates (-4878, -3721, -0458):

Despite the fact that we lit up this entire part of the map, it was still quite dark in this corner, so you may need to use bright flowers to light the way.

The closest canyon entrance to the depths is East Gerudo Chasm, south of the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, and the closest lightroot is Kasari Lightroot.

Like the Cap, the Tunic also starts at +4 Defense before being upgraded.

Pants of the Wild (leg warmer) location

The Pants of the wilderness are located in the depths north of the fire temple. That said, you’ll need some form of flame resistance to traverse this area or Link will literally catch fire from the scalding heat. (This can be obtained through an elixir or armor set.)

The pants of the wilderness are in a chest at the head of this skeleton in the depths, approx (1672, 3722, -0561):

The closest entrance to the Depths Gorge is the Drenan Highlands Chasm west of the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower and the closest lightroot is Kayam Lightroot.

Like the other pieces, the pants start at +4 defense before any upgrades.

Wild Armor sets bonus, effect and upgrade costs

Individually, the pieces of the Wild Armor provide no buffs. However, once you’ve upgraded each piece at least twice and worn the whole set together, you’ll get an Attack Up set bonus.

You can upgrade the armor set at Great Fairy Fountains, but the enhancement requirements – a lot of dragon materials in short – vary depending on which piece you upgrade. The cap has materials from Farosh, the electric dragon. The tunic uses material from Naydra, the ice dragon. The pants use pieces of Dinraal, the fire dragon. You must track down and grab specific pieces of the flying dragons around Hyrule to fully upgrade the set.

The material costs are as follows:

  • 1 star (7 defense): 10 acorns, 2 Farosh/Naydra/Dinral’s scales
  • 2 Stars (12 Defense): 5 Bee Honey, 2 Farosh/Naydra/Dinral’s Claws
  • 3-star (18 defence): 3 Energetic Rhinoceros Beetles, 5 Shards of Farosh/Naydra/Dinral’s Spike, 2 Shards of Farosh/Naydra/Dinral’s Fang
  • 4-star (28 defence): 3 Star Fragments, 2 Farosh/Naydra/Dinral’s Horns, 10 Shards of Farosh/Naydra/Dinral’s Spike

The total cost of upgrading all three pieces to a maximum is 6 Dragon Horns, 6 Dragon Scales, 6 Dragon Claws, 6 Dragon Tooth Shards, 15 Bee Honey, 9 Energetic Rhinoceros Beetles, 45 Dragon Spine Shards, 9 Star Fragments, and 30 Acorns.
