How to get the free Jeff skin in Marvel Rivals winter event
There is one free Jeff skin available during the first winter event for Marvel Rivals. It’s officially called Cuddly Fuzzlefin costume, you have to play many matches of Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival (the new mode) before the Winter Celebration ends.
In this Marvel Rivals guide, we will guide you through it how to get the free skin for Jeff the Land Shark free before the event ends, and some tips for Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival game mode.
How to get the free Jeff skin in Marvel Rivals
To get the free Jeff skin Marvel Rivalsyou must fully unlock the Winter Celebration event map before the event ends Thursday, January 9 at 11am EST. The Cuddly Fuzzlefin costume is the final reward on the card track.
To do this, you need to use 10 Golden Prince to upgrade all five decorations on Jeff’s Christmas card, which will give you the 500 Wintery Atmosphere you need to unlock the skin and all of Jeff’s other themed goodies.
The Cuddly Fuzzlefin costume cannot be purchased in the Marvel Rivals shop.
How to get Golden Frost in Marvel Rivals
Such as Chrono tokens or units, you earn Golden Frost by completing event-specific missionswhich you can only complete in Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival Game mode.
For each main event mission you complete, you’ll receive one Golden Frost, and you’ll need two Golden Frosts to upgrade one decoration on your Christmas card. For every decoration you upgrade, you will receive a decoration 100 Winter atmospherewhich will allow you to unlock Cuddly Fuzzlefin themed rewards including a spray, an emote, a nameplate, an MVP animation and, finally, the costume itself.
There is one important caveat: You are limited in the number of Golden Frost you can earn per day. (You start with two Golden Frost missions, but it currently seems like you only get one new one each day.) This means you’ll need to log into Marvel Rivals regularly during the holidays if you want to get enough Golden Frost to unlock Jeff’s festive new skin.
There are other daily missions as part of the event, but these reward Silver Frost, which is used to purchase cosmetic-only variations of Jeff’s map. Although cute and festive, you don’t need Silver Frost to unlock the Cuddly Fuzzlefin costume.
Tips for winning Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival game
The Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival game mode asks you to use a variant of Jeff – one with more winter-themed skills – to paint the holiday version of the Yggsgard: Royal Palace map. Use Jeff’s main attack to paint the ground, heal allies and damage enemies.
The mode only lasts three minutesand the team that paints the largest percentage of the map before the timer runs out is the winner.
While cute, you have to win in this game mode to unlock enough Golden Frost to get the Cuddly Fuzzlefin costume. Below we’ve listed a few tips to help you win some of Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival competitions and complete your daily missions:
- Your alternate fire does the most damage, but is harder to aim. So try using your primary fire when you need just a little more damage to finish off an enemy.
- Try to be the second player in a battle to use your ultimate, as you can both avoid an enemy of Jeff’s ult while using yours, and swallow them whole at the same time.
- Speaking of your ultimate: it paints a huge swath of land in one go, so it’s fine to use it to retake a huge amount of enemy territory even when there’s no enemy Jeff around – especially at the end of a competition.
- Don’t forget to paint the spawn areas for both yourself and the enemy team, as players often overlook these spots.
- Use your Blasting Bubble ability while on cooldown. It explodes a few seconds after you land it, damaging nearby enemies and painting a large area.
- If you have an engagement that you’re unlikely to win, use your Hide and Seek to dive in earlier than you think you should, as it has a bit of a wind-up animation.
- Try to help your fellow Jeffs in a duel, as many 1-on-1 battles can come down to one missed shot. Having two Jeff’s is much better than one.
- The matches move very quickly at Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival, so don’t give up if you’re behind early, and don’t get too comfortable with your lead if you win.
