How to get Princess Charlotte’s 2023 floral birthday dress

Kate Middleton proved her loyalty to Britain’s high street when she dressed Princess Charlotte in a £70 floral dress from chic label Trotters for her eighth birthday portrait.

The Prince, 40, and Princess of Wales, 41, shared a photo last night of the eight-year-old dressed in a white floral dress from the British label ahead of her big day today.

Photographed by her mother, as in previous years, she gave Kate a grin between her teeth to mark the occasion.

It’s far from the first time the princess has dressed the little royal in the chic label, which has become a reliable constant in the wardrobes of all three of her children.

Charlotte last wore the brand in December when she stepped out of the label in a £240 burgundy coat on Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, she’s also worn the dress for previous birthday portraits, including a push-button one released to mark her fourth birthday.

In 2019, she was pictured in the £70 Lily Rose Betsy dress from Trotters, featuring a blue Liberty floral print, puff sleeves and a Peter Pan collar.

She is also regularly spotted in blue sneakers from the children’s store.

Online, today’s birthday portrait dress is described as “ideal for the warmer weather.”

It features a classic round neckline and large statement willow collar, as well as a miniature floral print.

And it’s not just Charlotte who has worn outfits from the chic brand in the past, Kate also dressed her son’s Prince George and Prince Louis in the label.

Most recently, the siblings all wore the brand for Kate and William’s 2022 Christmas card.

Sophie Mirman and Richard Ross opened the doors of the first Trotters store on Chelsea’s King’s Road in 1990 and have since opened six more, winning numerous awards and acclaiming fans.

The Duchess of Cambridge, an avid amateur photographer, captured the glorious portraits at the family's Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, earlier this month. And how time has flown!

Sophie and Richard were involved in the creation of the now-defunct Tie Rack and then founded Sock Shop before launching Trotters.

In an earlier interview with FEMAIL about their brainchild, the duo said: ‘Trotters was the first store to focus exclusively on children.

‘The store caters from head to toe and offers a fantastic range of clothing, shoes, books and toys, as well as a hairdressing department with a gigantic aquarium.

It really is a one stop shop and there is always a buzzing atmosphere. Shoes are always professionally tried on board the famous in-store Trotters plane, train or ship.

‘We are still the same family business as we were a quarter of a century ago, committed to providing excellent customer service and a fun shopping experience for parents and children alike, although we have expanded to six stores in and around London as well as launching our online store. ‘

On releasing the birthday photos, Kensington Palace said: ‘The Prince and Princess of Wales are delighted to share a new photo of Princess Charlotte ahead of her eighth birthday.’

And like the images posted last year to mark Charlotte’s special day, it shows the princess’s striking resemblance to her father, Prince William, 40.

The father-daughter duo seem to share a number of facial features, including their eyes and nose, and expressions.

They both have big, radiant smiles that bear more than a passing family resemblance.

Every year the Wales release new photos on the occasion of their children’s birthdays, usually taken by their mother, the Princess of Wales.

Last year, when Charlotte celebrated turning seven, photos were published of the youngster at the family’s country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

In the photos, Charlotte can be seen smiling into the lens, wearing a blue blouse and patterned sweater, and holding a bouquet of freshly picked daisies.

While her birthday is on May 2, the young royal family started celebrating early and was spotted in London over the weekend.

The princess was no doubt delighted with the pre-birthday treat her mother arranged for her on Saturday, when she took a group of friends to the Royal Opera House to see the Cinderella ballet, where the girls were allowed to take the stage at the end.

As one Twitter user confirmed her surprise at seeing the royal mother and daughter in the audience, a video posted on Instagram showed the Princess of Wales going up to her daughter who was on stage.

In the clip, the happy birthday girl was attracted by the performers and smiles shyly as proud mom Kate fusses over her.

Charlotte, who is wearing a cute fringed fuchsia dress and has her hair in a bun, can also be seen waving a lighted wand as she appears to be joined on stage by her friends.

In another clip, Charlotte and the other girls go on stage with glitter falling on them as the princess raises her hands to try and catch it.

And soon she will be seen again in the capital.

Charlotte will enchant royal fans this weekend when she shows up at the coronation with her family.

She would not have an official role due to her age, but she is expected to attend the ceremony at Westminster Abbey and appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

And the young royal family is expected to join her father, the Prince of Wales, her mother Kate, older brother Prince George, nine, and younger brother Prince Louis, five, in the coronation procession.

It was reported last week that the royal siblings will sit in a carriage with their parents behind King Charles and Queen Camilla, who will travel in the Gold State Coach.

The Wales will be joined by the Princess Royal, her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
