Planks are an important early resource Lego Fortnitethe survival crafting mode introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1.
You'll need planks to get your village past level 2, but it's not immediately clear how to get them. Here is how to get planks in Lego Fortnite.
Making planks in Lego Fortnite
For making shelves Lego Fortniteyou need one sawmill. In the Build menu, the Sawmill is the second item on the 'Utilities' page, under the 'Stations' section. It costs eight wood And 15 granite. You should be able to find plenty of both near your starting area.
Once you've built a sawmill, you can interact with it and then select 'plank' from the recipe list. Press the D-pad to determine how many individual pieces of wood you want to convert into planks. It's a one-to-one conversion rate – a bit more forgiving than you might find in other crafting-forward games, which often force you to trade more of a common resource for a rarer, higher-level resource.
Converting wood into a plank takes a few seconds each. Once you're done, don't forget to collect your planks by pressing the Y/Triangle button (on the console). Otherwise, the shelves you just created will not appear in your inventory. If you are able to collect uncollected planks from your sawmill, you will see an icon floating above them like this:
What are planks used for in Lego Fortnite?
You need planks to increase your village rating from level 2 to level 3, which costs 10 planks and 20 granite. Planks are also an ingredient for the basic shovel. (Wooden rods, which you can also make at a sawmill, are the other ingredient.)
Crucially, you'll need planks to upgrade your workbench – at a cost of eight planks and three shells – so you can craft intermediate-level tools.
