What are old technology points in Palworld?

Ancient Technology Points are a resource that you can use to unlock recipes for equipment, weapons, and buildings. They work similarly to skill points, but the method of obtaining them is slightly different. Instead of earning an ancient technology point by leveling up, you have to hunt for bosses around the map.

How to get old technology points in Palworld

There are two ways to get ancient technology points: by defeating tower bosses or by beating Alpha Pal bosses.

Tower bosses

There are a total five tower bosses Scattered Palworld. During the tutorial you will have to fight one of the tower bosses, Zoe and Grizzbolt. These battles can be extremely difficult, as these tower bosses have an absurd amount of health compared to Pals and even Alpha Pals on the map.

After you defeat the tower boss for the first time, you will receive five old technology points. It is important to note that you will only receive old technology points after the the first time you beat them.

Alpha Pal bosses

There are a a total of 42 Alpha Pal bosses strewn around Palworld. These battles can take place in the open world or in their own instance, similar to a dungeon. Alpha Pal bosses can be tricky to spot, but they appear on your map as a circle portrait.

The difficulty of Alpha Pal bosses increases as you level. For example, one of the first Alpha Pal bosses you encounter, a level 11 Chillet, is a fairly simple boss fight. However, the level 50 Alpha Pal bosses like Jetragon and Frostallion require you to follow the five D’s of dodgeball: dodge, duck, duck, dive, and dodge.

After you defeat an Alpha Boss for the first time, you will receive one age-old technology point. As with tower bosses, you only receive an Ancient Technology Point after the the first time you beat them. If you forget if you’ve defeated one yet, check the map to see if there’s a check mark above their portrait. The check mark indicates that you have successfully defeated them and received the old technology point.
