Shells are a resource in Lego Fortnite that you must collect to craft vital items such as the health amulet. They aren't super rare and you can find them early in the game. Still, you may have to search a bit to find them.

How to get grenades in lego fortnite
You will have to fight the rolling crabs that you find in the “grassland'biome to get grenades in Lego Fortnite. The most difficult thing is finding the right type of crab, because there are several types. We will guide you step by step so you can be sure you find the right one.
First go to the “grassland'biome. Once you get there, just run around until you come across a large rolling crab. These crabs will attack you, or you can spot them by looking for the large round rocks sticking out of the ground. They're less common than skeletons at night, but you should eventually bump into one while running through the biome.
In my experience, I only saw large rolling crabs spawning during the day, and had better luck finding them on the shores of lakes and ponds. They have a dome-like stone on top of their body with small plants on top. Below is a picture of what they look like.

While you search, it is important to stay in the grassland biome as you can easily encounter other types of crabs. I saw small crabs that looked like spiders in the “coasts” biome. These don't drop grenades. You can also find biome-specific versions of the rolling crabs that look similar. However, these are not the same enemies and they do not drop the regular grenades.
Once you find one, fight it. You can easily defeat it with a shortsword or pickaxe and one grenade will fall. Continue the above process to find more shells. It may take some running around, but you should encounter them every now and then.
What do you use shells for in Lego Fortnite
You need shells to make health charms in Lego Fortnite. Health charms are extremely useful items that increase your overall health. Each health talisman you equip gives you three extra health hearts, so it's a very useful in-game item. If you see one of the rolling crabs, be sure to fight it!
