Exotic figures have been around Lot 2 for a few years, but Bungie has added several new ways for players to use and acquire them The final shape expansion. What was once a resource used almost entirely by new players is highly desirable for the entire player base.
In this Lot 2 guide, we’ll show you where you can earn exotic ciphers Lot 2and what to spend them on if you’re a new player or a Destiny veteran.
How to Get Exotic Numbers in Destiny 2
Exotic numbers are a limited currency Lot 2meaning they are not an endlessly farmable resource, and you can only acquire a limited number of them each season. However, there are still plenty of ways to get Ciphers each week if you need some to catch up at the Monument to Lost Lights or just have a lot of armor to upgrade.
Here’s a quick look at all the Exotic Cipher resources, which we’ll go into more below:
- Season Pass free and paid track
- Reputation trail for Rahool and Xur
- Weekly repeatable “Xenology” quest
- Random seasonal offers and promotions
First, let’s look at the passive ways to earn exotic grades. The season pass each season or episode has a number of Exotic Ciphers (Episode: Revenant, for example, has three in the 200 levels, two of which are on the free track and one on the premium track). As you play through the season and complete challenges, you’ll level up your Season Pass and eventually gain access to these exotic figures.
There are also two different reputation tracks that regularly offer Exotic Ciphers: Master Rahol And Xur. By decrypting Exotics with Rahool and spending your Strange Coins with Xur, you can earn reputation and ultimately get a shiny new Exotic Cipher.
Secondly, there is only one real active way to breed exotic figures, and that is with the “Xenology” quest. Each week you can grab an exotic ‘Xenology’ mission from bonus progress) You can do one “Xenology” per Xur visit (so once per week per account) and you get one Exotic Cipher out of it. This is a very slow one grind if you’re actively working on it, but it’s worth having a “Xenology” with you at all times, as you’ll inevitably complete it while doing other things in the game.
Finally, there are one-time or seasonal offers for Exotic Ciphers. This includes things like Rahool inventory offers you get when you pre-order expansions, or seasonal items like the Exotic Cipher tonic in Episode: Revenant. While it’s always worth taking advantage of these, you can never really count on these methods as they aren’t consistently available in-game.
What new players can buy with Exotic Ciphers
If you’re a new player and haven’t collected all the exotic weapons and armor yet, your exotic numbers will probably all go to Master Rahool or the Monument to Lost Lightsboth of which are located in the Tower.
If you’re looking for exotic weapons you don’t own – which are usually more interesting and worth grabbing than armor – take your Exotic Ciphers, a huge amount of Glimmer (between 100,000-125,000) and the occasional Ascendant Shard to the Monument to Lost Lights, near the Vaults. Here you can exchange your currency for any exotic weapon that comes from an outdated piece of content and is no longer available through traditional means. This includes Exotics from the old Season Pass and Exotics whose quests have expired. You can even pick up Exotics from old raids that are no longer in the game, although you’ll need a whopping 240 Spoils of Conquest in addition to your Exotic Cipher to get those.
Once you’ve grabbed all the weapons you’re most interested in (or if you need an exotic armor piece to put together a nice build), take your exotic ciphers to Master Rahool. Once you’ve fully leveled him up and prestiged him once per season, you can focus any exotic armor piece in the game with an exotic engram and an exotic cipher. This is the only way to get new exotic armor pieces each season, and it’s a great way to fill out your collection as you expand your arsenal.
What experienced players can buy with Exotic Ciphers
Once you have all the retired exotic weapons in play and all the exotic armor pieces, you can use your exotic figures in two ways, both of which were added in the 2024 version. Final shape expansion.
First, you must own three Exotic Ciphers for the next season or expansion. Each new content drop adds one exotic armor piece per class, and most expansions bring two per class, for a total of six. If you’re getting close to a new release and you regularly play all three classes, it’s a good idea to hold on to your Exotic Ciphers until these new armor pieces come out so you can immediately upgrade Master Rahool, buy the new stuff and start putting together cool new buildings. Make sure you also include 5-10 Exotic Engrams in the new content launch, as you’ll need them to level up Rahool and focus the new armor pieces.
Secondly, you can spend your exotic figures to upgrade your exotic armor pieces to Artifice Exotic armor. This makes your Exotic armor piece function just like a piece of Artifice armor you can get from Master Dungeons, and allows you to put a free +3 stat mod into your Exotic. This is invaluable when making late-stage builds, as it is very common to be only three small stats away from a breakpoint. Please note that exotic figures are very rare and this process cannot be reversed. So make sure you only use the Artifice Unlock slot on well-rolled exotic armor pieces that you use often.
