You will find travel fast an elusive mechanic Dragon dogma 2. You’ll spend most of your time traveling around the world – either lazily enjoying the sights, or frustrated at having to cross the same road for the 50th time. But there are indeed methods to fast travel, but keep in mind that neither is exactly convenient.
Us Dragon dogma 2 guide will show you how to travel fast via two different methods, and explain the advantages (and limitations) of each.
Fast Travel Locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2
There are two ways to get in quickly Dragon dogma 2: ox carts and port crystals. You can also only fast travel between specific locations. The map above shows the fast travel locations available to you in Vermund, the first region you will explore.
How to travel quickly between cities with bullock carts
The easiest way to travel quickly Dragon dogma 2 is to jump on an ox cart. The main advantage of fast travel with an ox cart is that it is cheap: 100 or 200 gold per trip.
However, the number of bullock carts is limited as they leave their stands only in the morning. If you arrive at a different time of day, you will have to sit at the booth and wait. They are also slow. You can sink while you’re in it, but time still passes in the background. That’s really only a problem if you have a time-sensitive quest.
The bigger problem with ox carts is that there are only two of them in the starting region of Vermund, and they only travel to three cities – Melvethe capital of Vernworthand the Checkpoint rest stop from Battahl. However, it’s still a good way to get around the kingdom relatively quickly.
Your ox cart should also (and, in our experience, shall) are attacked by monsters. That disrupts your ride, but you can hop right back on once the bad guys have been dealt with – assuming you don’t accidentally destroy the bullock cart in battle. If you destroy the ox cart, you will have to complete the journey on foot.
How to fast travel to portcrystals with featherstones
The other way to fast travel is actually fast: teleport with port crystals. Teleportation is clearly faster than oxen, but it too is severely limited.
To use a portcrystal, you must first find and activate one. There are two in Vermund – one in Vernworth and one inside Harbor village (as shown in the map at the top of this post). Once a portcrystal is activated, it becomes a fast travel destination – and that’s it. You cannot interact with them except by activating them.
To travel to a portcrystal you need a spring stone. These are quite rare items that you can find in remote treasure chests or receive as a reward for your quest. You can also buy them from some suppliers 10,000 gold.
Maybe you’ll come too port crystal as an item — you’ll get one as a reward during the “An archery trial” quest in Sacred Arbor for example. These are reusable items that you can place and pick up whenever you want. They act as portable portcrystals, meaning you still need a ferry to reach them. For quests that require a lot of backtracking, such as the series of nearly inscrutable Sphinx riddles, these portcrystals are some of the most valuable time-saving tools at your disposal.
You can have 10 of these non-fixed portcrystals active at a time, but that’s what they are Also extremely rare. (Have you noticed a trend yet?) During our travels we’ve found four portcrystal items from three quests, plus two more from exploration. For more information on how to get more portcrystals, check out our guide on where to find portcrystals, where we’ll also tell you where to place them.
