Dr. Jen Caudle (pictured) from the US has listed the top five places people forget or don’t wash well in the shower, including their legs and behind their ears.

Five Areas Dr. Jen Says You Should Always Wash in the Shower

1. Navel

2. Behind the ears

3. Under the nails

4. Legs

5. Between the toes

‘Guys, it gets gross. Please wash your belly button,” he said.

Dr Jen said those with an ‘outside’ belly button can clean it using just soap, water and a washcloth without ‘any problem’.

“If you have an innie, you may need to be a little more strategic about it. The wipe doesn’t go very far into an ‘innie,’ so it doesn’t clean it all the way,” he added.

“This is where I suggest a Q tip. Q tips can be very helpful in getting your soap and water in there if you can’t get your wash towel in there.”

Dr. Jean said people can also clean their belly buttons with an alcohol or salt water solution if the soap and water don’t feel deep enough.

“If you feel like you have discharge, pus, pain, redness, inflammation, swelling, or other things like an odor that won’t go away, you should see a doctor because you may have an infection that needs further treatment,” he explained.

“We want you to routinely wash your belly button to help prevent those infections.”

Second on Dr. Jen’s list of places people don’t wash enough is behind the ears, and she said they should focus particularly on the areas behind the lobe and on top of the ear.

Dr. Jen said that “a lot of people don’t wash their belly button at all” and suggested cleaning the neglected body part with soap, water, and a washcloth, Q-tip, or alcohol solution.

‘I want you to specifically wash that area. If you rub your ears and smell it and it’s gross, you haven’t washed it recently.

Dr. Jen said another area people “don’t often think about” is under the fingernails, and suggests rubbing them together.

‘This is where a lot of dirt and filth gets trapped. We don’t usually think about our nails,” she said.

Fourth on Dr. Jen’s list is legs, as people sometimes think letting soap and water run down them in the shower is enough to keep them clean.

“I want you to wash your legs,” he said.

I’m not talking about letting the soap run down your legs in the shower, I’m talking about washing yourself. Wash your legs, please.

Between her toes was the final item on Dr. Jen’s list of things to remember to keep clean.

“You want to make sure you’re preventing infections of many different kinds, so make sure you’re deliberately washing your toes,” he said.

And, by the way, wash the rest of your body.

Over 1.5 million viewers watched Dr. Jen’s video and many in the comments were surprised that people neglected so many areas of their bodies in the shower.

‘Who does NOT wash these pieces? I thought we all grew up here! one of the users wrote.

“Me thinking it’s common knowledge to wash all this down,” a second agreed, while a third responded, “SHAME you have to say that.”

And the nape!! people neglect that area a lot!!!’ added another.
