In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomyou can build your own house (again). Since your original residence in Hateno Village Breath of the Wild has been advanced by Zelda, you can create a house of your dreams with a shipping container-like customization system in the town of Tarrey.
However, you cannot buy and build your house right away. You must first help Hudson (of the famous Hudson Construction) in Tarrey Town before he and his wife, Rhondson, can help. Link really helped create Tarrey Town in Breath of the Wildso they owe you one.
Below we discuss how to unlock Link’s new Tarrey mansion and various housing parts that you can purchase.
How to unlock Link’s house in Tears of the Kingdom
To unlock the house, you mustMattison’s Independenceside adventure in Tarrey Town.
Hudson will tell how sad he is to send his Gerudo daughter to Gerudo Town, according to Gerudo traditions. After talking to both of them, Hudson walks away. Follow him and talk to him again at the entrance of the city to listen to him.
After talking to Hudson go upstairs and to their house and talk to Mattison. Follow Mattison into town and complete her quiz with the answer “Vaba!” (which is “grandma” in Gerudo).
Now Mattison wants to take the elevator to the Hudson job site, but the elevator operator scares her. That said, you’ll need to cover his sight with nearby building materials for her to walk through. We set it up like this, with just one wooden plank for the operator:
Talk to Mattison and she will take the elevator down. Follow her to the construction site and talk to Hudson. He will find that he needs 10 sunflowersso get started.
You can get sunflowers on just about any sky island. We were able to find 10 islands in the sky directly above Tarrey Town, which we glided to from the nearby Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower.
Once you get the sunflowers and hand them over to Hudson, a fun cutscene will play and “Mattison’s Independence” will complete.
You can now go back to Hudson and Rhondson’s house and buy a piece of land from Rhondson for 1,500 rupees.
Building your house in Tears of the Kingdom
After purchasing Rhondson’s lot, you can leave Tarrey Town via the bridge and follow the path until you reach your lot. The plot is right next to the Rasitakiwak Shrine, which serves as a useful teleportation point.
There is a Hudson Construction employee on the edge of the lot, who will sell you pieces of a house for various amounts of rupees. The prices are as followed:
- Angled chamber: 300 rupees
- Furnished corner room: 400 rupees
- Square room: 350 rupees
- Furnished square room: 450 rupees
- Weapon booth space: 600 rupees
- Bow stand space: 600 rupees
- Shield booth space: 600 rupees
- Gallery: 400 rupees
- Bedroom: 400 rupees
- Kitchen: 400 rupees
- blessing room: 400 rupees
- paddock: 400 rupees
- Lobby: 300 rupees
- Study: 250 rupees
- Indoor Stairs: 350 rupees
- Outdoor stairs: 300 rupees
- Garden pond: 300 rupees
- Flowerbed: 250 rupees
You can only have 15 pieces on the lot to make your house, so you have to choose wisely. We mostly chose utility in our home, which gave us a nice home base to cook, rest in a bed, and pray to a goddess statue.
After purchasing the pieces, you will want to move them around the lot with Ultrahand and then stick them together or on top of each other in any way you want to create the house of your dreams.
If you no longer want a piece on your lot, you can move it off the lot and the Hudson Construction employee will put it away for you when you’re done building. Useful!
