How to beat the Azhdaha boss fight in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Azhdaha the darkest soul (the giant snake) is the third big boss you’ll face Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Once you reach the giant pit in the middle of the Well of Eternal Sand – at the fast travel spot Sealed Lair – you’ll fall straight into the fray.

Us Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown guide will help you prepare for the boss fight with health and weapon upgrades, then walk you through the steps how to beat Azhdaha.

How to prepare for the Azhdaha boss fight

Preparing for the Azhdaha boss fight isn’t so much about increasing your damage as it is about surviving long enough to deflect Azhdaha’s attacks against her.

To do this, go to The Haven and the Mage’s Magi Emporium. Focus on picking up additional healing potions and increasing efficiency of the drink.

At Kaheva’s Forge, upgrades to the Blessing and Wolf-Bride amulets (both of which you must equip) will serve you well.

How to beat the Azhdaha boss fight

Azhdaha the snake is an intense fight. You won’t be in control most of the time and will just have to respond to her attacks.

From the start of the fight, Azhdaha will start with her red-eye attacks: a head-slapping bite and a tail flick. Avoid the bite and jump over her tail. After one of these attacks, you can safely land a few hits on her head (the only part of her you can hit).

When her eyes glow green, she summons a handful of pink crystalline spears. You can parry these for some athra build-up or just dodge out of the way. It is also possible to take them with you Dimensional claw and throw it back to Azhdaha.

When Azhdaha backs up with her nose pointed down, she’s about to launch a sweeping breath attack. There’s only one way to avoid taking damage here. Drop a shadow of Simurgh and run away. When the breath attack passes your clone, return to it.

The final attack to look out for in the first phase of the fight is when Azhdaha throws her head back and gets to her feet. Six pink bubbles will appear at the top of the screen with six corresponding red columns. The orbs are bombs and will ruin your day.

This is also your chance to do a lot of damage to Azhdaha. Position yourself directly under one of the spheres, jump up and strike above you with your Dimensional Claw. That grabs the sphere and prevents you from being blown up. If you get the chance, throw the ball back at her head.

After you deplete about a third of her health bar, you’ll get a short cutscene of her acting angry, and then the fight continues.

There are a few new attacks to look out for during the rest of the fight, but the simplest is the red-eye bite attack: she adds a second bite and can eventually flick her tail as well. Dodge and jump just like you did before.

Azhdaha adds a new red-eye attack where she leans to her left (her right) and her tail erupts from the ground. Her tail emerges from the center of the floor and then launches a series of crystalline spears at you. Go to the edge of the screen and block and avoid them. You can also grab one with the Dimensional Claw if you want.

There is also now an addition to the breath attack. You will see it coming when there is a red bar at the bottom of the screen. Damaging crystals will briefly erupt from the ground once the breath attack ends. To get around this, drop your Shadow into the air and then run a bit to avoid the crystals.

You will also start to see her yellow eye attack. This is your second chance to wreak havoc. She swipes her tail from the right side and then lunges at you from the left side. Jump over her tail, wait a moment and then block her head.

The timing is tricky (but the video when you get caught is pretty cool to watch). If you successfully parry her, you’ll land on her back and take quite a bit of damage.

When her health is about a third left, you enter the final phase. She doesn’t add any new attacks this time, but she does change some. The breath attack now starts halfway and changes direction. You have to use your shadow twice to dodge. Her red-eye bite attack also becomes slightly more intense with additional attacks.

Your job during the battle is to continue to respond correctly to her attacks, landing a few hits here and there, long enough for her to launch the blockable yellow eye attack or the falling orbs. Those are your chances of causing significant damage.

You don’t kill Azhada, but instead convince her to help you. At first you’ll just get it four sky arrows and a new quest. Once you run to the left and activate the first constellation and then return, she will give you a new Simurgh Feather: the Gravity wings time power. Satisfying – Finally – this gives Sargon a double jump.
