How to beat Raene Wolfrunner in Warcraft Rumble

Raene Wolfrunner is the first major hurdle Warcraft Rumbleand – depending on the army you lead – it may require some major adjustments to defeat.

You will meet Raene Wolfrunner in the Ashenvale zone, and she serves as the final boss. She has a recommended level of 7. Defeating her will give you your 30th Sigil, which unlocks the weekly dungeon system.

In this Warcraft Rumble guide, I’m going to show you the exact strategy I used to take down Raene Wolfrunner and then give some suggestions for alternative units.

(Remark: As of November 7, Raene Wolfrunner’s Huntress units will not spawn as aggressively as before. It’s unclear if this is a bug or if Blizzard changed the combat due to the difficulty. Either way, our strategies below will help you take her down.)

Before I show you my army, I recommend that you be most, if not all, of your units level 7 before taking on Raene. Statistics make a huge difference Rumblingand lower level units are destroyed by the boss’s Huntress units.

I mainly have a Undead army to take down Raene Wolfrunner:

Leader: Sylvanus Windrunner (6 Gold)

Troops:

  • Abomination (6 gold)
  • Ghoul (2 gold)
  • Chain Lightning (2 gold)
  • Plague Farmer (2 gold)
  • SAFE Pilot (3 Gold)
  • Gryphon Rider (2 gold)

The biggest problem with Raene Wolfrunner is her opening, where she spawns several Huntresses from the north and Alliance foot soldiers from the west. This can result in a huge bottleneck right out of the gate, with your guns too busy dealing with one threat to deal with another.

In our experience a single Horror can handle all Huntresses – at least temporarily. If you have a Bully Farmer, you should be able to take them all out before the Abomination dies. Make sure you position your Plague Farmer far away from your Abomination, though, as that way the Huntress’ glaive attack won’t bounce from your beefy tank to your squishy damage unit.

With the Huntress units busy, it’s time to focus on the Footmen and the Griffin Rider comes from the other side. The best thing you can do here is one Ghoul as early as possible. This will delay the enemy forces long enough for you to earn some gold. Once they’re focused on a tank unit, drop a few of them Chain lightning or a SAFE pilot on all of them for extra damage. If you can throw out one more plague farmer, the ground forces will be decimated very quickly.

Unless your units are of a very high level, your artillery will take damage in this opening section. It’s just too much for your units to handle at once. But once you survive the first attack, the rest of the mission goes relatively smoothly. However, if you fail to damage Raene more than she has already damaged you, you will lose in overtime, so you should play aggressively.

Focus the vast majority of your troops on the tower on the left and try to tear it down as quickly as possible. This allows you to spawn units closer to Raene and deal even more damage. While you’re doing this, though, be sure to keep an eye on the right side of the map, as Raene will continue to spawn Huntress units and send them after you.

Send your Abomination to tackle them and slow them down.

As long as you focus on controlling the Huntresses and pushing your units through the canal on the left, you can take out Raene within the allotted time.

What other units are good against Raene Wolfrunner?

The problem with Raene, as we mentioned earlier, is the opening attack, and not every army composition can survive that. If you haven’t unlocked some of the units I have in my army yet, or you just don’t like them that much, you’ll need some replacements. Below I’ve listed several suitable replacements for the Abomination, Plague Farmer, and more.

You’ll need a really strong tank to replace the Abomination I’ve been using in my army, like a Grommash Hellscream or even a Steenhoof Tauren. You can also use some tanks with gimmicks, such as the Gnoll Brute for area damage or the Earth Elemental because it’s Unbound (meaning you can drop it outside your turret area, giving you more time).

Instead of my Plague Farmer, you might want another unit that can deal area damage to the Alliance Footman team coming from the other side. a Huntress of yourself can do wonders against them, just like a Bat Rider. Be careful, as the Gryphon Rider can shoot down weaker enemies relatively quickly. Spells like Holy Nova And To carry out are also good against the western group if you don’t want to use Chain Lightning or the SAFE Pilot.

The only thing you really want to avoid in this fight are weak swarms of enemies.

Since the Huntress glaive bounces (and Raene is essentially just a big Huntress herself), your backline will be in trouble if they aren’t strong enough. Avoid the Spirit charmer, Birds of preyand others swarms of units for these – you’ll end up wasting your gold if you drop them.

As always with Warcraft Rumble, there are many different options to consider when going into battle. And if you’re still struggling after trying a bunch of different units, consider getting some XP and coming back later.
