How to assign crew to ships and outposts in Starfield

Star field is a game about exploring the unknown parts of space, so assembling and assigning crew members to your starship and, ultimately, your outposts is a crucial part of the fantasy.

As you explore the hub cities and watering holes scattered throughout Star field, you’ll encounter brave pioneers that you can convince and pay to join your crew, each with their own unique abilities to consider based on the skills you can choose during the level-up process. As such, some crew members are more efficient when assigned to outposts, while others can use their skills to help you in a dogfight.

How to assign crew to your ship in Starfield

During the opening missions of Starfield, you pick up your ship and get crew members, such as Vasco And Sarah Morgan, as part of the main questline. You may also come across the Adoring fan if you the Hero worshiped property during character creation.

Once you have friends on your party, you can choose how they are assigned by opening the main menu and selecting the ship submenu in the bottom left corner. Next, you need to press the Y button to open the “Crew” screen.

How to assign crew to an outpost in Starfield

Assign crew to an outpost in Star field, you must first settle on a habitable planet. To do this, press LB to open your scanner on the planet’s surface and a Outpost beacon with the X button.
