The cleaning expert mixes white vinegar, dish soap and essential oil to kill mold from areas like the shower and prevent it from coming back. She revealed that clove oil is her secret ingredient that kills mold spores before you can see them.
She mixes a cup of white vinegar with a tablespoon of dish soap and 10 drops of clove or tea tree oil.
She explains that the acidity of white vinegar helps it remove grime, dish soap dissolves soap scum, and clove oil removes shower mold and kills spores.
She sprays the solution around her bathroom, including on the tiles, shower, walls, and glass surfaces.
The mother then leaves it on for 15 minutes to absorb before wiping it off as usual.
she wears a Ryobi Bunnings scrubber to thoroughly clean the tiles and grout with the sprayer, as the grout may have a buildup of mold.
“Clove oil is amazing for getting rid of mold around the house, and it not only kills the mold you see, but the spores you can’t see, keeping it away for longer,” Chantel said.
“This mix is great for bathrooms and window sills to clean and remove mold at the same time.”
He also said it leaves the shower screens ‘shining’.
However, the mother advised discretion if she has pets or young children when using essential oils, as some can be toxic.
