Figures have been compiled to show what the Premier League standings would have looked like this season if there had been no VAR, but Man City would still have won the competition.

All 20 Premier League clubs will vote next month on whether to keep VAR in place or scrap it after another season of controversial refereeing decisions and apologies handed out by the PGMOL.

Numerous players and managers have had their say on whether or not to continue with the video assistant technology and the conclusion of the Premier League season offers an alternative view of the table, as reported by The sun.

Had VAR not been in play this season, there would have been a lot of movement between the clubs and their final standings, with Newcastle being one of the teams that would have been worse off.

Analyzing every VAR intervention in Premier League matches over the course of the season, it has been found that Newcastle would have finished level with Chelsea, but their worse goal difference would have dropped them to seventh.

Even without VAR, Manchester City would still have won the Premier League title for the fourth consecutive time

Arsenal would have stayed second in the Premier League but would have been one point better off if there was no VAR

Wolves are one of the teams that would have climbed higher in the table had there not been VAR

Newcastle finished the campaign sixth and look set to have a place in next season’s Europa League competition, provided Manchester United do not beat Man City in the upcoming FA Cup final.

However, despite numerous VAR interventions this season, there would have been no change in the final position of the Premier League’s top five.

Man City would still have beaten Arsenal to the title and won their fourth consecutive top-flight title, while Liverpool and Aston Villa would have remained third and fourth respectively.

However, Arsenal would have been one point closer to City, which could have made for an even tighter end to the season.

Tottenham would have retained their fifth place but would have finished four points short of their final tally of 66 if VAR had not been in place.

Manchester United would have finished the season eighth despite VAR intervention

Meanwhile, Manchester United would still have finished eighth in a disastrous second season for Erik ten Hag even if VAR had not gone against them in some matches.

Wolves would have risen one place in the league to 13th under the revised rules, while West Ham, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Brighton would also have finished the season with more points.

Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United would still have been relegated under the revised league table, but the Hatters would only go backwards on goal difference rather than the six points that Nottingham Forest finished above them.

Despite Forest being one of the biggest critics of VAR this season, they would have been three points worse off had it not been for the technology.
