How tall is Zak Crawley? And how does he relate to Ben Duckett as social media goes wild with the Ashes openers in England
The culmination of England’s opening bats in this summer’s Ashes has become a prominent topic on social media.
On one side you have Zak Crawley who is six feet tall and his big, booming ride is his trademark.
Then there’s Ben Duckett, who is only 5 feet 8 inches tall, a whopping 10 inches shorter than his partner.
Fans wonder if there has ever been a greater height difference between test openers.
“What is the greatest height difference between test match openers in the history of the game?” a supporter asked on Twitter earlier this month.

Ben Duckett poked fun at his height in a social media post earlier this month
Duckett (fifth from right) was dominated by batsman Zak Crawley (L) and bowler Stuart Broad (R)
“The 10-inch difference between Crawley and Duckett must be there.”
They make quite a pair when slapped together, and Duckett himself has been referencing his height online for the past few weeks.
Ahead of England’s first Test match of the summer, Duckett was placed between Crawley and Stuart Broad – another six-foot player – as the side belted out the national anthem.
Duckett took to social media afterwards to joke, “I might be standing somewhere else next time,” sending fans into hysterics at his unfortunate placement in the lineup.
However, the 28-year-old devised a cunning plan for one more team photo ahead of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s.
Posted in the back row of a team photo, Duckett decided to stand on the back of a benchwith the extra help making him the tallest player on the team.
His height certainly hasn’t held him back this past year as he broke into the England squad again in all three formats.
He enjoyed a fine tour of Pakistan in December as England completed the country’s first-ever clean sweep, and is now playing in his first Ashes series.
After making a fine catch to remove centurion Steve Smith on Thursday, he hopes to return after lunch to build a partnership with Crawley to get England back in the game.
