Billy Sharp savagely attacked Wrexham players and told them to “put that in your documentary” in a tunnel dispute that followed Sheffield United’s 3-1 FA Cup win on Tuesday night.

The National League side were level heading into stoppage time when Sharp, and then Sander Berge, sealed progress for the Championship’s big midfielders, setting up a fifth-round game against Tottenham.

But Sharp was furious at Wrexham’s ‘disrespect’ and made sure his Disney+ cameras, filming for the second series of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, heard exactly what he was thinking in the tunnel afterwards when both sets of players collided. .

“I feel like it’s put a bit of a damper on the game with the way they’ve acted in the tunnel. They showed a real lack of humility,” Wrexham captain Ben Tozer said.

“But that’s how they want to be and I feel like if we had won that game, we would have shown a lot more humility and respect.”

Sharp was angered by a tweet from Wrexham that tagged Tottenham ahead of Tuesday’s replay.

Sharp accused some of the Wrexham players of jeering before the match and that made the win all the sweeter for him.

He also took issue with a tweet posted by Wrexham’s official Twitter account after the fifth round draw had taken place that tagged Tottenham and used the two-eyed emoji.

“I thought there was a lack of respect for us,” Sharp told Sheffield United TV.

“Whoever runs your Twitter account wants to be careful because they thought they were playing Spurs before they beat us.

“There were some comments from their players that I won’t say, they know who they are. I’m glad we beat them tonight.

Wrexham’s tweet was in reference to a celebration by Paul Mullin, Elliot Lee and Ollie Palmer in November, where they imitated Tottenham’s Son Heung-min’s photo gesture.

The Tottenham star was labeled a ‘fan’ of the Welsh club after watching the first season of the Disney+ documentary, but Sharp remained utterly baffled that the Blades were ‘overlooked’ in his eyes.

Tozer responded to Sharp’s claims and confronted him ‘face to face’ to tell him that he was wrong in the tunnel.

They should show us more respect. They were telling us to “put it in the documentary,” Tozer added.

‘I feel that he is [Sharp] he made things up in his head to make it acceptable to him, if I’m honest.

‘I told him face to face, ‘show a little more humility’. We congratulate them on the victory, we don’t sulk, we walk through the tunnel as usual and it’s a shame it ended like this.

He added: ‘You had people like Oli McBurnie saying things in the press; I don’t think any of our guys have said anything disrespectful. We certainly approached the game correctly.

‘If this is how they want to be, this is how they want to be.’

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson also confronted Sharp as he made his way to the 4,700 away fans to roust them with a tearful gesture.

“To be honest I’m a bit disappointed with Billy, some of the things he was shouting at the end of the tunnel,” the Wrexham manager said.

‘Well done Bill, you’re a fantastic player, but I thought it was disrespectful after the game. I think the way the players celebrated and the crowd and staff was just a taste of how hard we pushed them and they were relieved to get through.

‘The message to Billy is: You’re better than that, you really are. My players are humble people and a great credit to the football club.’

Sheffield United took the lead early in the second half through Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodžić, but fell behind when Mullin conceded a penalty to make it 1–1.

From there, the fifth division team looked to take control of the game and had a chance to take the lead when Mullin earned a second penalty, only to see his shot saved.

Sheffield United, second in the Championship and on course to return to the Premier League this season, went overboard in stoppage time with two late goals and Sharp was delighted to have put ‘disrespectful’ Wrexham to sleep.

“I think they have been disrespectful,” he said. ITV Sport. ‘Some things before the game, thinking they were over; I’m glad we beat them.

“They are doing well in their league, we are doing well in ours. He wasn’t happy with some of his players tonight, but that’s it now, we’ve got one on top of them.

“I was not happy with the way they have been as a club before the game, looking at Spurs. They haven’t even beaten us.

“We are an honest group of guys and we want to go as far as possible in this competition. If they beat us in the next round, so be it. We’ll give it a try.

“I think they thought we were just going to turn around when we went back inside. I think the ref helped them all night as well, I don’t think he gave me a single foul all night.

“It’s one of those things, I probably lost my mind a bit, but I have a smile on my face because we’re through to the next round of the cup and the guys deserve it.”
