“To me it just means I need two,” she said, tapping her fingers on her stainless steel water bottle.
Karla explained that you shouldn’t drink with water or you’ll end up having to go to the bathroom “a gazillion times a day.”
“We’re going to be intentional about our weight loss journey, and we want to be intentional about what we put into our bodies,” she said.
“So here’s how to actually drink water so you can help your body function as effectively as possible while losing all that weight.”
Karla poured filtered water from a pitcher into the bottle and added a ‘pinch of salt’.
“Only a little,” she warned. ‘This shouldn’t be salty at all. This will add all the electrolytes back to your water. These are essential building blocks for our livelihood and to make you more beautiful.’
She added that if you want to get “fancy,” you can add slices of lemon or lime.
“This is just one of the ways I stand up for myself,” she explained. ‘Since I started my journey towards healthy habits, my life has only changed for the better.

“By doing this little routine throughout the day or as soon as I wake up, I’m taking care of my health and happiness.”
Karla is just one of many TikTok influencers touting the app benefits of adding salt to water can replenish electrolytes and boost hydration.
However, experts say that most people get enough sodium throughout the day and don’t need to drink salt water unless they are doing intense physical activity.
‘As a dietitian, I would only recommend that you drink salted water if you have been exercising in extreme heat and sweating a lot. I would also avoid drinking it more than once a day,” Frances Largeman-Roth, RDN, told me Today.com.

‘Yes! I drink 64oz of plain water daily,” someone else responded.
“This is better than the Gatorade like chemical filled drink,” another added.
