Packing for a vacation and figuring out exactly how much stuff to bring can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to the right amount of underwear.
Popular luggage brand Away recently went viral on Instagram when they asked how much underwear people take for a seven day trip, and got some shocking answers.
The travel brand asked the question to celebrities and content creators, as well as people who commented on social media.
The all-star cast included Hacks actress Meg Stalter, Call Your Girlfriend podcast host Aminatou Sow, photographer Tyler Joe, recipe developer Dan Pelosi and comedian Ben Marshall.
New York Magazine art critic Jerry Saltz became the real star of the video when he joked, “I’ll lie, but I would pack four pairs of underwear. I’m sorry,” in what turned out to be an extremely controversial hot take.

Succession star Alan Ruck, 68, said he would take seven pairs of shoes with him for seven days. That’s not controversial, but it also leaves no room for surprises.
Nine or ten was a popular option, with 17 being on the high side.
Another option was nine per day and nine per night, minimum 14 and 45, with two carry-on suitcases packed to the brim.
Commentators had a lot to say about the right amount to take on a week-long excursion.
One person clarified that “the correct number is three pairs per day.”
Another joked: ‘There are no wrong answers… but four is definitely wrong.’
Someone asked the question, “Does the first person turn them inside out every day?”
Others wondered whether the Pulitzer Prize winner was running commandos or didn’t shower every day before putting on clean underwear.

Some people explained that the correct amount depended on the washing situation in the accommodation and whether hands had to be washed.

Someone wrote: ‘Seven includes washing dishes in the sink. Without the sink, 14.’
Another curious potential traveler asked, “WILL THERE BE LAUNDRY AVAILABLE?
“Then four could be justified.”
One succinct commentator summed it up this way: ’10 is the only correct answer’, which makes sense given that it covers the whole week, with a few extras for the evening.
