How Kylie Minogue staged the comeback of the century at 55

Kylie Minogue is currently in the midst of a career resurgence not seen since her Can’t Get You Out of My Head days.

The Australian hitmaker, who just celebrated her 55th birthday, is rocketing up the charts with her comeback single Padam Padam and reaching a whole new generation of fans via social media.

The addictive dance number has become a viral sensation on TikTok and Twitter, racking up millions of views via hilarious memes.

It also becomes a huge hit on the charts, becoming her highest-charting single in Australia in over a decade after debuting at number 39 in its first week.

The song also races in the UK charts, reaching number 1 on the UK Big Top 40 chart, which measures radio airplay, iTunes sales and Apple Music streaming.

According to the latest predictions, it will go to the top 20 of the official singles chart next week.

Writing about the unexpected success of Padam Padam, George Griffiths of the Official Charts said, ‘It’s a confident left turn and people respond to it because of how confident it sounds and how much it feels like a Kylie single. .

“Nobody else could probably have made this song,” he added.

Kylie spoke about her chart comeback on social media this week and thanked fans for their support.

‘It’s been an incredible week, topped off by my birthday today and I can’t thank you enough. My heart is bursting with joy so thank you very much,” she kindled.

“What an incredible, yet another wild turn in my life and career. Thank you so much for all your love and support, everyone who came on Padam Padam and made this possible for me. I love you, thank you very much.’

In fact, the viral track is predicted to make a dent in the Hot 100 soon.

While the US market has been notoriously tough for the Australian star over the years, her recent Padam Padam performance on American Idol received rave reviews from viewers.

Outside of music, Kylie has brought in millions with her brand alcohol line, Kylie Wines.

Since launching in 2020, Kylie Wines has sold a staggering nine million bottles, making it one of the largest celebrity liquor brands in the world.

The brand’s Prosecco Rosé is the best selling branded Prosecco Rosé in the UK after less than a year on the market.

According to Now to Love, Kylie Wines is said to have earned the singer more than $13 million to date.

“I don’t mash the grapes. I just think it’s about having the team and the right understanding… it’s about trials for me,” she previously told the Daily Telegraph.

“I’m in it for the long haul. I am invested in it,” she added.

There seems to be a hunger for all things Kylie Minogue at the moment, with the Fever hitmaker recently relaunching her 2006 perfume, Darling, due to popular demand.

The relaunch was so successful that the fragrance has already spawned a flanker called Disco Darling, named after her 2020 album Disco.

Kylie will release her 17th studio album Tension on September 22.

With eleven songs, Tension becomes a record full of cheerful dance-pop songs.

The megastar worked on the album with her longtime collaborator Richard ‘Biff’ Stannard and Duck Blackwell.

She also collaborated with DJ Oliver Heldens for one of the songs, 10 out of 10.

Kylie announced the album in a press release, saying, ‘I started this album with an open mind and a blank page.

‘Unlike my last two albums there was no theme, it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of the moment and always trying to keep the song.

“I wanted to celebrate the individuality of each song and dive into that freedom. I’d say it’s a mix of personal reflection, club abandonment, and melancholy high.”
