How Iggy Azalea built an eight-figure empire with Fancy
Iggy Azalea made chart history in 2014 with her global hit Fancy, but the Australian rapper’s music career quickly declined after a series of social media scandals and failed albums.
But despite her rapid rise and fall, the 32-year-old has built a staggering eight-figure empire for herself and recently bragged that she “never has to work another day” in her life.
From music royalties and tours to endorsement deals, savvy property investments, and a lucrative move on OnlyFans, the Australian hip-hop star now has a staggering net worth.
Iggy Azalea (pictured) has continued to rake in millions of dollars in recent years despite her waning power on the music charts.
Unlike many other commercial artists, Iggy was smart enough to retain ownership of all of his master recordings and his publishing catalogue.
He finally sold the rights last November to Domain Capital for an eight-figure sum, Billboard magazine reported.
This included his signature hit Fancy, along with songs like Black Widow, Kream, and his collaboration with Ariana Grande, Problem.
After receiving backlash from fans on social media for the sale, Iggy responded: “I sold a piece of my catalog to whoever I wanted, for an amount that means I don’t have to work another day in my life.”
“I love you all, but the teachers talk is a little beyond their understanding of business.”
She added: ‘It means that a part of the songs I sold to a company that now owns them. In exchange, they paid me what they would have earned in my lifetime, upfront in a lump sum.

Iggy made chart history in 2014 with Fancy (pictured), which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks and sold more than nine million copies.
Less than two months after the sale, the former hitmaker joined OnlyFans in a move that is set to earn millions more.
Iggy currently charges subscribers $25 per month, but users have to pay more through upsells to access sexier stuff.
If you tip the star $250, you become a ‘VIP’ for 12 months, which includes a free exclusive photo and a few other unknown benefits.
According to Forbes, his OnlyFans post announcing his VIP subscription racked up nearly $16,000 in tips in one week.
Iggy has refused to disclose his earnings on the platform, but realistic estimates put it at seven figures in the first month.
The former hitmaker recently joined OnlyFans in a lucrative move that is set to make millions.
Seasoned OnlyFans creator Mishel Karen analyzed the stats on Iggy’s page and told Daily Mail Australia that the rapper would have easily raked in AU$500,000 on her subscriptions alone.
Factoring in VIP subscriptions, tips and expensive PPV messages, Mishel thinks Iggy can take home several million dollars in his first month.
Earlier this week, he made some cryptic references to his OnlyFans earnings on Twitter.
‘The last seven days have been crazy, shaking, throwing up, jaw on the ground, life changing. And I mean that in a totally positive way,’ she tweeted.
‘Bet on yourself. Could not be happier!

At the height of his fame in the years following the release of Fancy, Iggy made sure to capitalize on his popularity Down Under.
In 2015, he was paid around A$500,000 to spearhead a Bonds underwear campaign..
The following year, he signed a million-dollar contract to be a judge on The X Factor Australia with Adam Lambert and Guy Sebastian.

Last year, Iggy successfully flipped his Los Angeles mansion, selling it for A$8 million, pocketing A$750,000.
The rapper is now refocusing on music and is recording a new album, which will be released on her own independent label.
“A year ago I was ready to walk away from music because I was tired of the negative energy it attracted,” she announced last year.
“But what I’ve learned is that even when I’m going about my business, you’ll all be negative AND nosy. So if I can’t have peace, neither can you.
I’m going back. Cry about it.
