If you’re an Australian and have been dreaming of traveling to Japan, you can now do some of it for free thanks to a little-known travel offer.
“Japan Airlines is offering FREE domestic flights to international visitors through its new program,” travel account Alice’s Adventures on Earth said in a video announcing the news.
‘If you book a return flight to Japan with Japan Airlines, you can book one free domestic flight on the same reservation.
‘It’s perfect to see more of Japan’s hidden gems, from historic temples to beautiful beaches and snow-capped mountains.’
The program aims to let tourists explore cities outside Tokyo and Kyoto, the main destinations for many international travelers.
The deal, which is valid until October, covers 64 domestic Japanese airports and includes checked bags on the free flight.
The offer is open to Australians as well as citizens of Indonesia, India, China, USA, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Vietnam, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

Aussies who heard about this opportunity didn’t need much encouragement to consider booking a trip to the Land of the Rising Sun.
“Wait, this can’t be real?” said one.
‘Wow! As if Japan wasn’t tempting enough,” another added.
“I would love to do this,” said a third.

Many mentioned their favorite lesser-known Japanese cities as possible destinations for adventurous Australians looking to take advantage of the offer.
“I recommend Kyushu or Shinzouka as an alternative to Tokyo,” said one.
“Okinawa is the most beautiful place I have ever seen,” another added.
“Niigata also has a lot of beautiful scenery and hiking,” said a third.
Visitors to the country raved about Hokkaido for its picturesque setting, “great” skiing and some of the country’s best bathhouses.
For those looking for travel inspiration to go even further off the beaten track, Tina Pik, the woman behind it hangryvannature shared her six favorite ‘unconventional places’ to visit in Japan.
Her recommendations included capybara watching on the Izu Peninsula and Takayama for luxury bathhouses (onsen) and some of the country’s best traditional Japanese food.
“I’ve never heard of Takayama, now it’s on my bucket list for summer 2024,” said one.
